Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

This was the first shot that I took at a mini TE Get-together in Buxton. It has a double significance; it was my first shot on this shared day and it shows a memorial to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the two World Wars, on this, the 70th anniversary of D Day, when the allied troops began the liberation of Europe.

The memorial is situated on The Slopes, a steep hill in the centre of the town and was sculptured by L F Roslyn, one of the most prolific of sculptors of war memorials.

The members I met up with were, Claude (CLODO), Ann (annjackman), John (tyro), Mike (mjw364), Will (willperrett), Len (lennoland) and Jasmine (Tigerlily) and I'd like to thank them all for a great few days. Although we didn't have the best of weather, we did have the best of fun!

Have a great day, Bev :-)

I have added the location and, although you cannot actually see the memorial, you can see The Slopes, where the memorial is situated, opposite The Crescent.

I will add a link here which shows closer views of the memorial from the Internet
