Stading on the left side of the road,on the pavement,
waited the timing where the passing by cars would were to less fewer,so i shot the impressive Admiraly Arch as you see.
You can see it with even more details using the beta.trekearth.com
The panorama is stitched from three photos.
Admiralty Arch is a landmark building in London which incorporates an archway providing road and pedestrian access between The Mall, which extends to the South-West, and Trafalgar Square to the North-East. Admiralty Arch is a Grade I listed building. Until recently, the building housed government offices, but in 2012 the government sold a 125-year lease over the building to a property developer for redevelopment into a luxury hotel.
It was designed by Sir Aston Webb, constructed by John Mowlem & Co and completed in 1912. It adjoins the Old Admiralty Building, hence the name. The building was commissioned by King Edward VII in memory of his mother Queen Victoria, although he did not live to see its completion. A Latin inscription along the top reads: : ANNO : DECIMO : EDWARDI : SEPTIMI : REGIS :
: VICTORIÆ : REGINÆ : CIVES : GRATISSIMI : MDCCCCX :
(In the tenth year of King Edward VII, to Queen Victoria, from most grateful citizens, 1910)
The sculptural figures of Navigation and Gunnery were designed by the English sculptor Thomas Brock.
In 2000, the Cabinet Office moved into offices in the building, while maintaining its headquarters on Whitehall. It was also home to the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit and the Social Exclusion Task Force. In 2011, as part of the government's austerity programme, the building became vacant and was put up for sale for a reported £75 million. In October 2012, the winning bidder was reported to be Spanish real estate developer Rafael Serrano, who planned to turn the property into a luxury hotel. The property was sold as a 125-year lease. In August 2013, Westminster City Council granted full planning permission for the restoration and conversion of Admiralty Arch into a 100-room hotel, residences and private members' club.
As the ceremonial entrance from Trafalgar Square to The Mall, itself the ceremonial road leading up to Buckingham Palace, Admiralty Arch plays an important role on ceremonial occasions. Processions at royal weddings, funerals, coronations and other public processions such as the 2012 processions at the end of the Olympic and Paralympic Games all passed under its arches.

The wideness of the area is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and the colors of the architecture of the Admiralty building and arch. The cloudy sky is giving a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.

An interesting and good article on the building, with a history and description of ...
Good time recording and contrast nicely demonstrated buildings and place with details on the facade.

you did very good job taking this panorama shot and stitching it together. The arch is truly impressive piece of building and I like that thanks to perfect sharpness one can admire all the details of this architecture. Your patience has been rewarded and the presence of the people and traffic in the composition is very subtle. Very good colors despite not exactly ideal weather conditions so typical for this country.
Thanks for sharing

You're capturing well this architecture by a goo xomposition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the elegant Admiralty Arch with symmetry and curved line. It's also profound architecture. And, it's good that it has achieved the functional duty access between the Mall which extends to the South-West and Trafalgar Square in London.
Sergiom (78457) 2014-05-15 5:33
J'aime beaucoup le format de cette image. Il accompagne très bien l'architecture de ce superbe bâtiment. Les détails ressortent très bien malgré la lumière difficile.

Patience is most needed for any photographer, and it was worth waiting.
Great archi.-styled big edifice, well taken from the point taken, as every curve, pillar and arch shown beautifully.
As a matter of fact, franky, i do not remember the exact place situated, even though I was twice in London.
Now I have an intriguing job looking on Google-map.
adramad (45294) 2014-05-15 9:02

Congrats for also the very informative note
jcpix (13916) 2014-05-15 19:18
I've never understood the stitching process, but I can say with confidence that whatever it takes, you've done a fine job bringing it all together for one pleasant image. With its concave appearance, the architecture appears as if it were taken with a reverse fish-eye lens. :) Worth the wait to capture an unobstructed view, making it all the more impressive and clutter free. Well suited too for the panoramic format. Sharp and detailed, the picture and notes make for a very impressive result. Have a great day ahead. All the best.
trevormoffiet (3112) 2014-05-16 4:37
