Time for a conventional land- (or sea-)scape. Durdle Door is a natural limestone arch on the Jurassic Coast near Lulworth in Dorset, England. It is privately owned by the Welds, a family who owns 12,000 acres in Dorset in the name of the Lulworth Estate. It is open to the public.
As you can see, the day was so calm, we had motor-sailed from Weymouth, and decided to drop anchor for an early lunch in the bay just out of shot to the right. Not something (or somewhere) I would normally consider safe, as prevailing winds bring up some big waves here, despite Portland Bill offering a bit of shelter from the south-west. There was hardly a ripple today, though, so we rowed ashore and sat on the beach for a picnic, had a swim and rowed back to the boat. The wind got up nicely in the afternoon to take us round to Poole. It's a tough life.

This is a very recognisable coastal feature. What I enjoy so much about this picture is the simplicity of the limestone arch dipping its toes into that gorgeous coloured sea.
Kind Regards, Ann

Une très belle arche construite par la nature.La couleur de la mer est un réel plaisir pour nos yeux avec cette variation de vert.

What a marvellous rock, looking like a giant monster drinking from the sea. A very strange but fascinating sight. The green water and blue sky look really nice, so it must have been a great day. The colours and light are great too. A very nice photo.

An interesting and very attractive view. I have seen similar limestone formations in Etretat in France. Very peculiar formations, what ever country they are in.

Very beautiful place and wonderful colours in the water. Just a shame the arch is a little underexposed, I think you could correct this a little on post processing.

The crystal clear water in July appears most inviting. I would have expected the scene somewhere in the Mediterranean, but it is just as inviting in Dorset as it would be in the Mediterranean. Excellent light management, as always.

Places and sights like this make me happy. I must be as conventional as they are.
Luring and relaxing pic. Thanks, Will.

Despite the completely unsexy name for this place, it is absolutely enchanting. The emerald water looks like something straight out of the Greek Isles. You managed the areas of strong light and heavy shade extremely well. This place has me fascinated and if I ever make it back to the Old Dart, will be heading to Dorset for sure. BTW, have you seen the photos of Dorset here on TE by a former member Adam Burton? they're inspirational.
Warmest wishes, have a lovely week
