Good Morning Everyone,
Impromptu - done without being planned or rehearsed.
That is exactly what happened with this photograph.
We were in Wycoller, near the ruins of old Wycoller Hall on a misty morning. I had my back to the hall, watching some ducks which were messing around by the stream, when I heard this laughter behind me.
I turned, to see two girls in bright clothes racing towards me on bikes. The moment was too good to miss; I hadn't altered the aperture or the ISO but I managed to get them in frame and clicked!
I liked how the girls seemed incongruous with the spooky atmosphere of the building and how their clothes brightened up the misty morning.
Certainly not the best prepared shot but one which I enjoyed taking.
The girls giggled to halt nearby. Their feet were just a little wet but they were loving every minute of this countryside cycle!
Hope you all have an enjoyable day, Bev :-)
I must apologise to all those who critiqued my photograph, yesterday, for totally confusing you. I had been rushing to upload before I went to work and had inadvertently placed Portinscale in Cornwall rather than Cumbria! (I could imagine tourists searching diligently for the mountainous regions of Cornwall!)

Good on them Beverley- they don't mind mud splattering their legs as they are feeling free and having fun. Makes me sad to think that in so many places around the world girls are like shadows or ghosts where laughter is frowned upon and so is riding a bicycle. Nice moment. Regards. Klaudio.

Maybe a rush job. but you captured it perfectly.

C'est le temps des crues printanières. Les plus braves aiment beaucoup en profiter pour se délier les jambes. J'aime le point de vue avec le cycliste qui se dirige directement vers ta lentille.

I bet these young ladies would not have attempted this a few months ago! Love the candid atmosphere and sense of fun here in what is a beautiful setting. This old ruin looks so interesting, definitely my sort of place for a camera mission.

A kind of street picture, taken quickly when the scene appears. Good job, their colored cloth contrast with the surroundings.

Those are the best shots, Beverly - when a situation like this comes around, one has to be well prepared for any action.
Yet, the guy on the bikes while in motion, superbly collected on a clear image, and the ancient ruins added a beautiful backdrop's.
Nice taken the moment, good afternoon,

You were indeed very lucky to catch this moment, a fraction of a second later it would have been gone. Taking pictures is very often like this, just pure luck! Here you have managed to combine an interesting background with the cyclists that add both colours and action to the scene. Excellent!

This is a great photo. Impromptu shots are usually the best, IMO, provided the photographer has enough time to get the technicalities reasonably right. This one is almost immaculate. There seems to be a slíght tilt, judging from the walls of the ruin, and it would have been even better if the girls had not been so close together. But considering the circumstances these are very minor remarks. I really love the colours and good atmosphere the girls bring, and the surroundings are superb. There's a wonderful contrast between the happy young girls and the gloomy old ruins.

Just like you say, two worlds collide here so well! The old ruin is a spooky looking place, and the misty light plays to this really well, while the girls are so vibrant and full of life. A very well timed moment to capture this rare contrast.
I would love to see more of this building if you have any in your collection, a fascinating looking place.
All the best

Ciao Carlo Beverley

I love those photographic moments when something unexpected happens. You caught these girls very well in the middle of the ford with the water splashing around them. Not only do the colours of their shirts stand out but the light on the moss covered wall also brightens the image. Very well shot.
Kind Regards, Ann

It's always great when spur of the moment shots turn out just fine. Great capture this, thanks for sharing.

A mistake is human, the picture is most important, not the place.
I am very certainly that this was a surprice two girls with a bike through the small river.
But your picture is very well taken, in high quality
Really pleasant place and perfect sharpness.
Excellent composittion, pleasant of colours too.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice Easter weekend for you and your family,

As location is to real estate, timing can often be to photography...and this proves it! Aside from the red jackets being the first thing to grab attention, I instantly recognized this location from your previous post...and there's that association to others pictures/styles. :))
You've captured the enthusiasm and enjoyment depicted in your note from these two making their way through the water. Sometimes it's better to be in the right spot at the right time rather than fulfill technical details, and the spontaneity and amusement shines through here. An image that elicits a smile from this side of the monitor as well! Have a great day ahead. All the best.

The shot is great and I love it! The whole situation indeed was worth of being photographed and despite of lack of time you did very well. The framing is just right and the background with their eerie ruins and trees creates really interesting and contrasting background. Good choice of format and smartly placed girls on the bike. Great colors, light and sharpness.
Well done and TFS!
Have a nice Easter Monday!

An excellent action photo! This reminds of my biking days, it was always an honor to get dirty while riding.
