Looking around for a good view point I came across this view of this iconic Westminster Cathedral over a wall..
Westminster Cathedral in London is the mother church of the Catholic community in England and Wales and the Metropolitan Church and Cathedral of the Archbishop of Westminster. It is dedicated to the "Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ".
The site on which the Cathedral stands originally belonged to the Benedictine monks who established the nearby Westminster Abbey and was purchased by the Archdiocese of Westminster in 1885.
The cathedral is located in Victoria, SW1, in the City of Westminster. It is the largest Catholic church in England and Wales, and should not be confused with Westminster Abbey of the Church of England. Westminster Cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Westminster, as of 2013 Vincent Nichols. As a matter of custom, each newly appointed Archbishop of Westminster has eventually been created a cardinal in consistory.
John Betjeman called it "a masterpiece in striped brick and stone in an intricate pattern of bonding, the domes being all-brick in order to prove that the good craftsman has no need of steel or concrete."

instead of typical postcard you took this
artistic shot showing the simple lines
and architectural details of this cathedral
the clever idea is the figure of the tree
created a particular atmosphere and a dynamic
contrast between the cathedral and the sky
I like the branches without leaves showing
better the domes being all brick
have a nice weekend

Interesting and unusual framing on this building, whose red brickwork I have always admired. I like the light and the tonal contrasts. Clarity is excellent. The good weather has gone away here for the next few days at least; grey, damp and cool.

This is an effective presentation of Westminster Cathedral, complemented by an informative note. During the Victorian Era, so much of the architecture was in that Neo-Gothic design, with arches, spires and variegated brick. Of course, it reflects a style of an iconic period, but not one that is very attractive. In Oxford there is Keble College and the Science Museum, both built in this period, and both in that design. The great essayist John Ruskin, a very talented artist who obsessively drew sketches of what he saw, once wrote, "I would walk a mile out of my way just to avoid an inadvertent glance [of the science museum]."
