Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

This photograph shows St. Mary's Church in Piercebridge. It was designed by Cory and Ferguson, in the Early English style, and built in 1873.

It has a most curious projecting bell cote. I have never seen anything quite like it before, and fish scale type roof tiles.

Possibly due to the available space or, maybe, following the shape of earlier Roman foundations, the church door does not face the road, it faces the nearby cottages, but that does mean that this amazing tower and bell cote face the road.

The sun was quite strong when I took the shot, giving very strong light/shade contrasts. I have used layers in PSE10 to slightly lighten the walls and I have adjusted slight lens distortion.

I wish you a lovely day, Bev :-)
