Noticing the advertise about bikes repair I stopped and wait, I wanted a photo with bikes as protagonist, (not with people) all parked round the impressive building where people goes to read and study
While it is great to look at the outside, I hear the inside is even more beautiful with an incredible array of books, I would have liked to go inside the building but I discovered that you can only do this on a tour ( few ones), because students need silent, quiet and peace to read
It functions as the main reading room of the Bodleian Library
A building of Oxford University, designed by James Gibbs in the English Palladian style and built in 1737–1749 to house the Radcliffe Science Library

Hi Maria - what a great building here, at the same time majestic and also tiny. The choice to avoid people altogether in favor of the row of bikes works, I think - good for establishing scale, and it provides an interesting pattern at the bottom of the shot, especially with the small sign added in. And wonderful light here as well!

Ciao e buona serata

Beautiful framed the temple from below! Beautiful architecture and beautiful light! The row of bicycles leaning against the railing characterize the picture! Well done!

the Radcliff Camera, a place I know well, it is a place I've photographed so many times over the years, but this is also the best photograph I've seen of it. The light is perfect, and the texture on the old building, clad in golden Cottswold stone, is revealed clearly. On the left is Brasenose College, and to right is the Bodleian Library. Thanks for allowing me to take a wonderful stroll down memory lane for me. In the 70s when I was there the iron fence was not there yet, and there was no place for the Oxfordians to lean their bikes.
Warm regards (I am going to open some space in my saturated gallery of favorites, so that I can hang this beauty there).

We have all seen hundreds of photographs of the Radcliffe Camera and we've also seen lots of bikes in Oxford too - but this photograph is delightful because we see the famous building with bicycles galore in front of it and also with that lovely "Free Bike Repair" notice too!
The lighting here is sublime and you have caught it perfectly in this very well composed photograph. The colours also are beautiful, your exposure perfect and the details and sharpness are exquisite.

Impressive 'study hall' the lower rectangular floor of rock blocks evolving into a circular 2nd with ornate columns, then the top dome, everything blending into an impressive architecture.

Excellent presentation of this fine Oxford building, so often presented also here on TE. The many bikes are so typical for the English Univeristy town. superb picture with very pleasant colours and sharpness.

This is excellently captured building from very well selected viewpoint. The view from lover angle makes the building majestic and dominant. The light is perfect, the contrast against blue sky superb.
Excellent arrangement with the bikes in the front.
Very well done.

Beautiful view of impressive building with lots of architectural details. Like the clear blue sky contrasting the clear blue sky so well. The nice warm light has aided to bring out the beautiful colours.
No wonder there is a queue of cycles, who would not want a free service :) Well seen and well taken. Thanks for sharing this nice shot.

You made me lough this evening, Maria...
A fine shot of the round monument, well under the bright light.
Why wonder about the sign? a businesman who knows his way around, found a nice frencise for helping students. All needed now is like the Charlie-Chapline glassrepair movie, that sent his son throwing stones breaking windows for having more repairs done - same here maybe??? just with the bikes...
Nicely spotted and applied.

Gran trabajo. Me encanta.
Disfruta de una buena semana.
Todo lo mejor.

Nice and interesting capture form Oxford; the paradise of students !
Of cours they are not the most rich people of Oxford and a free repair of their bikes is a great service. Hat off !

Hola Maria, que tal ?!
A very good one here but so far away from BUE
Nice architecture on the blue sky and the bikes at fg that complete the compo

Hola Maria querida,
a beautiful building, with very attractive style and unique character. It surely is an important and well loved landmark in this town of scholars. You achieved great perspective, balance and depth in this tight, square frame, the row of bikes adds an original framing element that's a good hint of the daily life in the streets of this town. You are offering us superb rendering of details as well as rich and vivid, graduating warm tones against a lovely blue sky. The shadows enrich the agreeable sight and make the atmosphere even more interesting. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,

Your photo give the impression that the purpose of this building is the bike repair, and that gives me a smile, imagine a building like this for a small hike repair company :) beautiful light falls across the scene, making the very most of this fine building and the excellent details therein. Very clever scene, very nicely captured.
jcpix (13930) 2014-03-04 17:25
Hola Ms. Nikkitta,
Hey, there they are...the bikes are back! :) A great way to show them in a herd, and in their natural environment...you see how they cluster together for safety in numbers? jaja
Wow, that is one impressive building alright, and with this kind of smooth light really makes it delightful and warm. Too bad you didn't go inside, why do students need peace and quiet anyway...all of the ones I ever see are busy partying!??
Love the idea to take this in a vertical composition, filling the frame with the large, domineering shape and classic architectural details and textures. Smart observation and clever presentation in keeping with the bike theme, you've turned out a beautiful result mi amiga! Enjoy the day ahead. Be good...yes, do it! ;)
Cheers from up top,

Simple but sturdy looking architecture and has survived all those years. I would love to see the inside of this building and feel the long and interesting history of it's existence. Nicely captured with good details. Well done, tfs.

Hello Maria - A super shot of the Radcliffe Camera with all the bikes leaning around the fence. So indicative of Oxford words are not necessary for me to pin-point the location!
Free Bike Repair..... that must be a first!
Warm regards Rosemary

This library is magnificent in architecture style. These bikes against fences are great addition to the picture. You picked the perfect time to take this picture. The light is soft and gentle, very nice.
photographer_sg (4414) 2014-03-06 7:14
lovely shot of the charming building with beautiful colours and exposure. The bikes make an interesting foreground and even without the bikers add the element of life. I would love to spend hours reading at such a place. Thanks for sharing and have a great new day.

very nice the view of this round construction of Radcliffe Science Library with the brilliant light of the day to brings out the details of them. The bikes that lean on the rails are a good focal element of the scene.Excellent the contrast of the colours.

Nice repetition of the parked and chained bicycles in the fg. The bg building looks almost Roman in design. Good sharpness and effective tight framing. Excellent shadow detail and a superb warm cold color contrast between the blue sky and honey toned stone. Tfs!
jmdias (67187) 2014-03-26 2:09

I had the pleasure to visit this exact spot yesterday. Sadly I did not have such great weather as you did here in this photo. I am really jealous. This is a lovely composition with the probably most interesting building in town and the bikes making nice foreground along the fence. You had such a nice light! I will try to post something from this square when I only get some time to look at my photos.
Very well done!
