6.30 a.m. on a summer's morning at Lock 25 on the Oxford Canal as it passes through the beautiful village of Cropredy in Oxfordshire, the early morning sun lightens up the Lock Keeper's Cottage and there's not a soul in sight.
It is forbidden for the narrowboats to navigate through towns and locks before about 8 a.m. but in a couple of hours' time this place will be busy with boats passing up and down the canal as enthusiasts, boat owners and holidaymakers chug slowly and peacefully along the canal network, enjoying the lovely Oxfordshire countryside and perhaps later stopping somewhere for a relaxing lunch at a local pub.
This was another picture taken during a wonderful TE meeting here courtesy of Richard (Ricx).

Ciao e buona serata

Hello John - It looks as if you had far better weather than I did when I visited this famous Cropredy landmark. How beautiful the little cottage looks nestled under the trees and lit by the sun. England and Oxfordshire at its finest, this is enough to make a grown woman weep with homesickness never mind the weather! Magical and a real pleasure to see. I noted on FB that the water in the canal was lapping across the path.... I hope you are dry and the wind wasn't too bothersome. Warm regards Rosemary

As I look at this, it makes me wonder if the designer of the canal was a photographer at heart, and had this beautiful reflection in mind when he saw this scene :) Fantastic light and really nicely captured colors makes this a very appealing shot. The building looks like something I would expect to find as part of a model railway. The various shades of green are wonderful.

Super photo of this lovely Lock Keepers cottage, I remember it with joy, having a super Braii in the garden with Richard. How is he, I hope his house has faired ok in all these storms?
Fantastic Pov, and great blue sky to add a super summer mood.

Hi John, the choice of point of view makes the difference, perfec to take the best reflections of the red house,i like the decentralized composition too,to give space to the bridges in background on the left, spectacular quality of exposure, detail and colors too.Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hi John, Splendid view of this lockkeeper small house. Such nice memories from this place! Lovely composition in well saturated colours. You had good weather there.
It is a pity that Rich doesn't appear here. And it seems to me that he doesn't live here anymore. charming shot.
Warm regrads MAlgo

Très jolie photo, bien composée, lumineuse et avec un bon contraste de couleurs entre la végétation et la maison; Le reflet de celle-ci dans le canal est un plus.

A beautiful summer day, no storms, no rain, no flooding of this peaceful canal. Very fine colours of green red and blue, a pleasant reminder of a summer day.

Oh, such wonderful, warm days, with a chance to enjoy the calm of the surroundings!
This is a very well composed shot, what you might call text book quality, with great leads, strongly positioned focal image and an interesting back stop. The light is lovely with contrasts of sunlight and shadow, which has helped to create that mirror-like reflection, a super detail.
Hope all is well up in Scotland,

This place looks so idyllic, can't associate hustle and bustle to it.
The colors are all so magnificent.

I look out of my window to see howling gales and lashing rain; then I turn back to your photograph. So England can be pleasant and cheerful. It's nice to be reminded of the fact. The two splashes of red are well placed to counterbalance the cooler blues and greens. The square format is unusual these days, and indicates a crop: I wonder what you chose to remove...

This is not the image of the day in England with almost everywhere flood, we get everyday the sad image out of your country on our TV.
I hope that very quick the rain stops and the water disappears.
Your picture is nice taken as summery picture with depth and perspective.
Hair sharp and clear picture to look at, with all fine details.
A nice composition, good presentation.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,

This is a marvellously neat composition with a very nice square shape. I like the diagonal of the canal as it passes between the green lawns and the red building, which is perfectly reflected in the calm water. The colours are beautifully saturated.

Light ,color and contrast are excellent, superb reflections in water, very good clarity, excellent picture

haha...i really enjoyed Noels note...he questioned wether or not the deisgner of the canal was a photographer :)
I think he was!
this is one of those 'picture perfect' type of scenes isn't it. The scene works so well it belongs in a calendar! It just has that appeal to it, that charm.
its almost felt, let alone seen.
really like how the red brick shines in the light.
well done my friend

Ciao caro Giovanni
This photo is immaculate, a little like the creations of our ex-TE'er Jaap Polack, in that it's so pretty and flawless and make superb use of the reflections and the historical architecture. Rich sounds like a wonderful host and the locale is a photographer's dream. You truly made the most of the magical location and exquisite light. I also like how the eye is driven by the lines of the pathway, the river and the river bank. Top notch!
PS: The Mods reinstated my hands photo!
PPS: Did you get my email with the Transcript of the court case? What did you think?
