hi brian. so, this is an excrept from the flying englishman, having filled with ambitions from jules verne books :) amazing photojob, the moon has fantastic details, lots of craters visible. one of your best and done in b&w!

lovely composition with the delicate white moon against the grey black of the boat. Great black and white photography. Thanks for sharing.

Superb abstract composition from a good POV. The detailing on the moon is excellent. B&W is a good choice to show this defunct boat. Excellent innovative photo, I like it. Very well done and thanks for sharing.

Hi Brian,it's a bit strange to see a black and white pic in your gallery always full of warm colors...ehehe....but i think that your choice is perfect for a composition like this, great idea,a magnificent perspective watching to the sky, with a beautiful moon that play in the best way with the boat silhouette,i like it!! Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

monochrome is something I didn´t expect to see in your gallery, the more I appreciate your decision to post it.
The scene looks superb in B&W!
Expressive and evocative!
I like also colour version you´ve enclosed, but to be honest this one is much more powerful to me.
Brilliant composition and monochrome treatment!
Have a nice day

Good Morning Brian,
B&W is an unusual choice for you but, you know, it works really well, for the moon conjures up this feeling of the contrast of silver and black .
The prow (a great crop) guides smoothly towards the moon, which is strongly positioned in the fame.
I'm glad there is nothing else in frame to distract from these two elements.
have a good day,
HimalAnda (9606) 2013-12-20 2:39
The composition is perfect, with a beautiful big moon.
The B&W is nice, but I prefer the color version on your website (the blue tones are nicer, in my opinion).

Black and white gives the wreck an air of mystery and heightens the atmosphere. Superb framing with this unusual juxtaposition between moon and boat. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think it's only a picture but 2 on the same frame taken with different lens lenghts. I prefer the colored one, the overall blue color being so important for my taste.

Romantic scnery for a date! Beautiful photo, original POV, good diagonal composition, well done as usual

Hello Brian - I like both shots but I think the colour one is my favourite, the blues are so beautifully toned and the blue moon is superb. The composition is minimal and very well balanced. Nice use of your long lens. Warm regards Rosemary
PS. It has been awhile since I looked at your website. I'm impressed by some of your recent 'creative' compositions.

un bianco e nero semplice ed efficace nella contrapposizione tra il relitto e la luna che sembra vegliare su di esso.
Eccellente la nitidezza della luna nella quale sono visibili i crateri.
Molto ben fatta la composizione.
Ciao e buon fine settimana

Une très belle prise de vue de cette vieille barque sous la lune. Belle composition. Félicitations.

Love this in B&W, the monochrome is a rarity in your Gallery, so I savour them when they do show up. It's a very simple but well thought out composition, missing only the lone wolf sitting on top of the ship howling at the moon ;) Just kidding. The definition in the moon and the silhouette of the boat are really stunning. It's a cracker, thanks for sharing.
PS: Yeah I agree with you and Rosemary about B&W not being as popular here on TE and I'm glad to see it not stopping either of you posting them, it certainly won't stop me!

thats a stunner.artistic and beautiful...what else can i say.

Très beau noir et blanc avec une remarquable composition et une incroyable netteté de la lune dont on voit parfaitement les détails. J'avoue avoir une petite préférence pour la version couleur que je suis allé voir sur ton site(qui est tout simplement remarquable).
emka (78808) 2013-12-20 22:42
Hi Brian, I like both versions but perhaps more it in colours. it not such a big difference, just the background is blue. marvelous composition with the moon so clear and with fantastic details. Splendid work.
have a nice weekend Malgo

hard to say which of the two I prefer....in this one the boat stands out more, but in the color version the moon stands out more...so i guess its just a matter of personal choice really.
For me, i enjoy the cranky ol' boat anyday!
its cool that we can see the nails or rivets, and the way the hull is broken apart.
yes, lots of people shots in Cuba :)
Bartleby (13552) 2013-12-22 2:06
An elegant, minimalistic composition Brian. It's hard to decide between the two versions. I tend to lean towards the B&W though. I think I would try to bring out more details and structure on the shell of the boat...What do you think?
I love how detailed is the moon crescent here. Wonderful.
parvatibb (1387) 2013-12-22 2:56
this a just amazing!little bit ghostly mood. A perfect composition.
have a great Sunday

I have only a quick moment of free time left today, but I had to get this in before taking off...what an enchanting shot this is, you've set quite an atmosphere with this one! Bringing these two elements together in this arrangement, and going with a black & white scheme is brilliant. I can vividly imagine a moonlit night sitting on the beach.....waiting for the Pirates of the Caribbean to appear! ha It just has the type of association for me, such a neat vibe this exudes. Here's to wishing you a very Merry Christmas mate! Don't over indulge! hehe Take good care.
Warm and friendly wishes from SLC,
