The Cotswolds are a range of hills in southwestern and west-central England, an area 25 miles (40 km) across and 90 miles (145 km) long. The area has been designated as the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Stanton is about 3½ miles south of Broadway, and north of Cheltenham. It is on the edge of the Cotswold Escarpment. It is within just a few minutes drive from Stanway, and five or ten minutes drive from Broadway.
Stanton nestles beneath the slopes of Shenbarrow Hill and is probably one of the prettiest villages in the whole of the Cotswolds. Little seems to have changed in 300 years. It has a long main street with houses built in typical Cotswolds style with steeply pitched gables, mullioned windows and glowing honey coloured limestone walls.
Stanton takes its name from 'stan' (stone) from which it is built - similarly the neighbouring village of Stanway.

Hi Trevor - This is making me feel terribly nostalgic as I was born and grew up in the north Cotswolds and this village is a stone's throw away from where my forebears were born and died. On the well known tourist route, one can see why people flock here, the location is so beautiful, typical Cotswold cottages built with the local honey-coloured stone and their gardens planted in cottage style. The inclusion of the horses and riders here completes a lovely shot and adds a touch that is typical for the area. I think I must go and book my air-ticket! Thanks so much for this one! Rosemary

It would make a lovely cover for a chocolate box this picture. Horses and riders are a great addition and sit well against the golden tones of the architecture, so typical of the Cotswolds. A beautifully lit image, perfectly exposed. Colours and clarity are both superb. Have a great weekend.

Hello Trevor ,
This village is so picturesque , with beautiful old stoned houses . Splendid POV and composition , and fine bonus of the horseriders . Of course , it woul have been better without any cars , but ...

che bello questo villaggio, la tranquillità sembra regnare sovrana.
Mi piacciono queste case con le loro caratteristiche architetture.
Bella la presenza dei due cavalieri.

This makes me think immediately of postcards and pictures in books that English friends of my mother's sent us in the 1950's, the main difference being that this one is technically so much better. Of course these houses looked the same in those days, and long before, but above all the quiet atmosphere looks very much the same. Most probably there are many times more tourists here nowadays, but they don't seem to have spoiled the place. This is a lovely old-fashioned postcard kind of picture with very attractive light and colours.

Without these cars was exactly a picture out of the Middle Ages with the both riders along the street.
Nice perspective and depth picture
Excellent composition, nice presentation and lovely colours.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice Sunday,
