"I took myself a blue canoe
and floated like a leaf
dazzling dancing, half enchanted
in my Merlin sleep"
Elton John's irrepressible lyric from "Where To Now St Peter?" from the iconic album "Tumbleweed Connection".
This little blue canoe is bobbing on the unusually high waters of the River Adur in Shoreham-by-sea, West Sussex, England. Yesterday saw a storm surge in the North Sea which caused coastal flooding in many parts of eastern and southern England. Shoreham-by-sea was not hit too hard with a few areas flooded, but it did breach the river bank that skirts Shoreham (Brighton) Airport, so parts of the Airport were flooded which has stopped all flights into the airport.

C'est une très belle photo, la lumière sur le canoé est superbe et contraste avec le fond sombre.

For me it´s incredible how excellently you were able to separate the light(FG from the BG).Really love this strong light contrast and the way it affects the mood of the scene.
Have a nice weekend

An intriguing composition featuring this blue and white canoe. The light falling across the canoe and the reflections are quite sublime. I also like the presence of that sunlit post in the background, which a very effective counterbalance. Very artistic and well conceived imagery. Have a good weekend.

Ciao e buon fine settimana

nice the vertical format with the well lighted blue canoe to be the eye catching of the scene.I like the excellent light management with the brilliant light on the foreground to contrast with the bit dark environment on the backdrop.
Have a good weekend,Danos

This is one of the most dramatic photos I've seen in weeks. The blue canoe is so brilliantly lit up by the sun at a grazing angle that no distracting elements are even seen. Elton John's word do resonate...
Have a good weekend,

The composition is excellent but i find the light a little unatural... Did you lower the exposure everywhere but on the canoe ?

Eye-catching post due to the classy composition and fantastic strong contrast! Very well seen and composed in the vertical frame. Beautiful image! TFS!

What a great little lyric to accompany this image. Two things stand out to me about this shot. The play of light, that subtle shift from highlights to darker overtones is entrancing. Secondly, the golden yellow reflection of the canoe, when the visible bottom half only shows white, is kind of a mind twister effect...how is that color derived?? :)
The rich blue color from the top half of the canoe is accented superbly by the deep rustic red post in the near background, making for a wonderful combination. Great observation of what most would consider a common scene, but it resulted in a very intriguing image! Hope you're having a nice weekend. Take it easy.

Cette lumière qui vient juste éclairer le canoë est étonnante et t'a permis de réaliser une belle et originale photo.

another interesting shot once again. Like this little blue canoe, which is very well placed in the frame. Like the surrounding dark tone which created nice contrast with the canoe. Excellent composition. Tfs.

A good warm cold color contrast between the reflected yellow tınt off the canoe / kayak and the blue water! Good sharpness and color saturation and the red pole and boat stand out ın the darkness. The bg bridge is well positioned over the vanishing point. Tfs!
