Photographer's Note

Taken from the grounds of Lindisfarne Abbey on the Holy Island.

The Holy Island lies just a few miles off the Northumbrian coast and is accessible at low tides via a causeway.

The Holy Island is steeped in history with the first monastery on the island being founded by St Aidan in 635AD.

The remains of the most recent abbey can be seen to the left in this shot, whilst the distinctive form of Lindisfarne castle can be seen on top the hill on the horizon.
