The part that is facing the sun contrasts with the stormy sky in the background. An interesting concept on a well selected POV. Excellent execution !

Magical light Leslie and what a beautiful colour palette with the inky blue sky and golden-green grasses. The sun is illuminating the house and FG rock attractively as well as bringing out the textures across the grasses. Lovely and atmospheric. Warm regards Rosemary

A splendid light on this well composed image
All ingredients, dark sky - luminous rock at FG - colorful grass - white house at the focus point, for an excellent compo

The light is most atmospheric; I can almost smell the rain on its way in:-) Another very good composition from this desolate spot.

Indeed the light and the whole atmosphere that you have managed to capture is quite magical. Love the almost golden hue makes it look almost surreal. Well done.

une photo très bien composée!
La lumière, les couleurs et ce beau ciel sont superbes!

Although the treatment may have made the scenery look more dramatic than it really was, this is a fine and very well composed photo. There is a good balance between the large rock and the main building. The dark clouds and the sun-lit field complement each other very nicely and the overall effect of the light and colours is superb.

Kia ora Les,
I like the sense of drama here. The lichen-covered foreground rock, the cottage at back all under a lowering sky. Great shot. Cheers, Neil

A beautiful shot. Very effective composition with the large boulder well lit in your foreground and angled nicely into your shot. The sky is ominous and yet the cottage is well lit and perfectly placed within your frame.

you have composed this beautifully with the large rock creating an interesting foreground and helping to create depth to the image. the colours are amazing bathed in the sunlight with the dramatic stormy sky threatening overhead.

That boarded house under that threatening sky conveys a worrying atmosphere that suits well to Halloween! Beautiful light and pleasant composition with the house and stone in opposite corners.
Best regards, Claude.

CLODO (34720) 2012-11-01 3:04
really eye catching with the white house well spotted in the yellow grass and dark cloudy sky. it is balanced by the rock at left.
Good low sun light giving orange hues.

another exquisite shot from Dartmoor. Love the light in this one and the fg detailing that adds so much texture and scale to the view. Gorgeous colours and a real sense of atmosphere in this beautiful image.
Have a good day - Brian.

this is a well balanced composition with light to die for. I enjoy the rich colours here too, especially that dark, velvety sky.
agjika (3177) 2012-11-02 3:56
Truly beautiful light hittin the facade of that house. Superb composition with the the house and the rock being in the "right" place. Lovely texture on the grass. I find the sky a bit too heavy but not overdone.

A Devon classic! The stormy look of the sky in contrast with the deep green and the earth tones of the little house compose a beautiful scenery! Very well managed light, great shot Les!!

In 1976 I spent 2 weeks in Devon with my parents, and I still have warm memories about the beauty of the landscape overthere..,this is good example and with this kind of autumn light an absolute delight, unique light Les.

I thought for sure I had already critiqued this photo...i guess not.
I take it that house is abandoned? i'd love to break in :)
get some photo's of the inside! :)
love the tall green grass everywhere and the strong contrast of the blues in the skyline.
wonderful photo all around

Excellent point of view and composition. The stone
on the forground makes(with the sky) the picture
exciting and it creates also a nice depth. Little
details like the road on the background emphasize
the depth. The light management is also excellent.
