Lime Tree Avenue, a photo from Nottinghamshire, England

Photographer's Note

Lime Tree Avenue is situated in Clumber Park which is a National Trust site near Worksop. The Avenue is well known for the row of lime trees that stretch for about a mile. This picture was taken at 0700 around sunrise with a heavy mist all around and just beginning to burn off as the sun gets stronger. The site is 5 miles from my home.

The mist gives an unreal aspect to this very graphical scene and the light is incredibly beautiful.
It's personal, but it would have been still stronger with a character in the left.
But it is already exceptional, congratulations !

Pour ma part, j'aurais peut-êtré légèrement coupé la partie droite de la photo (3 ou 4 cm)

Wow. Great atmospheric shot! I like the way the trunk nearest to us is black and then the rest become lighter as they get further away. Scary fog effect at the end there, as if something is hiding in it waiting to jump out. Don't think I would have lingered too long if I had been there! Every once in a while you are privileged to be in the right place at the right time. If you're even luckier you'll have your camera with you. SUPERB WORK WITH LIGHT ADJUSTMENT.THE TREES DO SEEM TO COMPLETELY DISAPPREAR IN THE MIST BUT GRADUALLY.THE ONLY THING I WANT TO KNOW IS THAT WHETHER THE DOT MARKS WHICH I SEE ON THE SECOND TREE FROM THE RIGHT ARE DUE TO SHARPENING AND THE DARK LINE MADE ON IT IS NATURAL?

Have just come across this wonderful photo. A small suggestion: use levels in PS to darken it slightly. It could be my monitor, tho I doubt it, but I find it a bit bleached out in the centre.

Une photo superbe. Tout a été dit mais on ne se lasse pas de la regarder. La composition est simple mais efficace pour arriver à une atmosphère singulière grâce à la brume qui estompe petit à petit les arbres à mesure qu'ils s'éloignent de l'observateur.

This one popped up in your randoms, Colin. I hadn't seen it before, but so glad it did because what an amazing shot! The way in which the tree trunks change from solid black to a sort of transparent white, layer by layer through the image, and then disappear in the mist is incredible.
