Photographer's Note
Hello Everyone,
First, I must apologise to Mesut, for I promised to post a photograph of an egret for him. Unfortunately, I cannot locate the shot and feel it must, somehow have been deleted so, in stead, I am posting another bird for him, a barn owl.
This shot was taken at our local Agricultural Show. Birds of prey were quite an attraction at the show and this young boy, feeling a little like Harry Potter, volunteered to fly one of the barn owls.
He was obviously very proud to be in charge of the bird and to have a large crowd of people watching his progress. I feel he may be more interested in birds after this encounter.
Many thanks for stopping by, Bev :-)

I have many Egrets in my gallery, enough for everybody, Beverly.
A barn-owl is one bird we do not have in israel, too warm weather for them, and this is an enlighting picture, also with the kid face expression. marvelous.
Thanks for the warm critique written to me. Appreciated.
Good evening,
Ike

Hello Bev,
This is a lovely shot - not only of the handsome owl but also of the boy who looks as pleased as Punch to be left in charge of this fine bird of prey.
Lovely colours, excellent composition and wonderful sharpness on the subjects with the hoi polloi nicely out of focus in the background.
Lovely!
Kind Regards,
John.
P.S. This immediately reminded me of this wonderful shot - you must remember it - taken by our friend, Dougie Johnston, who used to put up some amazingly beautiful photographs here.

Hi Beverley
The differential or selective focus has been utilised well here & the sharply defined fg bird and its handler have been nicely isolated & emphasised away from their surroundings. Excellent colour & lighting on the barn owl & boy. Tfs!

Hi Bev
what i really like about this is the boys facial expression.
i can almost guarentee you that any worries he may have in his life are completely forgotten at this exact moment - just look at his face, 100% focus, attention, and awestruck at the Owl - everything else is momentarily forgotten.
love moments like this one.
I'm sure his Mother would Love to have this photo!
cropping the photo just above his head would give even more attention to the boy for us viewers.
lovely shot!
cheers

Hello Bev,
the owl is a beautiful creature but it is the expression on the little boy's face that makes this special.
This is aperfectly balanced composition with the boy standing off centre and the top of the owl's head at about the thirds line. Excellent dof.
best regards,
Bev

Hi Beverley. A little boy with an owl. Such opportunity is not every day. And the little boy takes advantage of the opportunity. Today he is at the center. Well seen and presented. Informative text. Rgds, Wolfgang.
