Photographer's Note

Eric Cantona played for Manchester United -football- from 1992 to 1995. He was called the Frenchie at the beginning of his stay in England, and became Eric the king, after he scored many times. Today, he appears on an advertissement with his wife Rachida Brakni about a sportswear on the cabs of Manchester.

Cet incroyable l'impact qu'a eu et qu'a toujours Cantona sur les habitants de Manchester. Je l'ai surtout connu dans sa période jeune et auxerroise, du temps où les relations avec Guy Roux n'étaient pas évidentes. Il était déjà "différent" et l'est resté!

Eric Cantona ex Manchester United footballer and now a legend in his own lifetime. Monsieur Eric Cantona can appear to do no wrong these days Claude! Here he is with his other half, actress and director Rachida Brakni, promoting The Kooples, the slick French fashion label revered for its effortless take on Parisian style thus underpinning the label's predilection for using 'dashing' couples in its advertising campaigns. For many, of course, EC will best be remembered for his flying kick attempt back in 1995 at a Crystal Palace supporter who, the player claimed at the time, had insulted his mère among other things. Love the classic contrast, juxtaposition and well-timed shot, a very much the kind of street photograph that I look out for and occasionally even discover and perfectly complimented by the thise two cars. Well spotted and executed candid.
