Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
Armed with my camera, I was trying the capture the interesting shapes and patterns made by the reflected, moving reeds in a small lake.
Much to my surpise, I saw a coot, swimming amongst the reeds and then staying completely stationary in the reflections, as if they would hide it.
I didn't have my telephoto lens with me so I waited quietly hoping it would come closer.
I watched the coot's actions with interest, for many minutes, before I eventually took a shot.
It was quiet, it was tranquil, it was personal.
Now, that's the perfect way to relax on a Sunday morning!!!
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Bonjour Beverley
Une belle image lumineuse avec les reflets tout en zig-zag qui sont toujours attractifs. L'oiseau prend tranquillement les rayons du soleil et un plus dans la composition.
Merci pour le partage et bonne journée.

Hello dear Beverley,
A perfect outside capture mids't of the nature.
Even without telelens you've managed a good shot.
A good sample of what the scientist call "mimmicry" !
To get part of the surrounding and protect himself by enemies.
Very nice can calm scenery.
The viewer only need a calm music, when watching it; maybe a Lorena Mc Kennet !!!
TFS and have a nice day
Best regards

Good morning Bev,
Of course, if this bird had flown off without your getting a photograph, it would have been because you were one of the foolish virgins (Matthew Ch. 25: vv 1-13) who left her telephoto lens at home. Silly girl. And, anyway, you should have been at Church on a Sunday morning!
But the Almighty has obviously forgiven you and allowed you to come up with this fine picture which was well worth the wait. Of course, your standard lens is longer than most standard zooms and you have taken advantage of the full 70mm focal length.
The coot is perfectly placed in the frame and the reflections on the water's surface are beautiful. Fabulous colours, perfect exposure and stunning details and sharpness.
Nice reeds/rushes too - I presume you didn't find a baby in a basket down here?
Wonderful!
Kindest Regards,
John.

Hello Beverley
Fantastic symmetrical reflections of the dead reeds, with the duck providing a superb focal point at left. Good sharpness & superb colour & saturation. I like the high contrasted light & graphism. Tfs!

Ciao Beverley,

Good afternoon Bev,
Beautiful distorted reflections and good timing here! The coot is well placed in the frame and on the verge of entering the reflection zone. This adds a nicely narrative layer to the composition. And I love those coots with their large and ungainly undercarriage :-)
Have a fine Easter weekend

Hi Bev
No chance for me to get this kind of bird from a close position. In France they are very wild
Good tight composition with a very nice deep foreground.
Warm regards

Hi Bev,
The reeds and their reflections provide fine colours and pattern. The bird (in Swedish a "Soot Hen") is a very fine addition to the view!
Kind regards

Hi Bev
this is a scene that my Girlfriend would notice and capture well before i would - and i mean that in a complimentary way :)
she loves nature and animals :)
I'm too busy looking at buildings haha
the reflections make this one post-worthy, without them, i think alot of the visual impact and interest would be lost.
very nice shot. reminds me that spring/summer is close.
Enjoy your day

This is nice Bev,
(sorry for the "nice" but sometimes it does the job!).Such a lovely blue and the reflections are super. Love the squiggle of the reeds' reflections. The coot reminds me of our courting days when we camped near Wincle in Cheshire. There were coots on a nearby pond and they are happy memories.
best regards,
Bev
