Good Morning Everyone,
This is a shot taken on the Leeds to Liverpool Canal, near my home. Although it was an overcast day, it was pleasant for walking.
As we reached the canal tow-path, we were very fortunate that two narrow boats were on the canal. We waited patiently for one boat to come through the locks and I was able to capture the two passing in the narrow channel.
In the f/g you can see the closed gates of the lock through which the boat on the right will soon be entering.
Many thanks for stopping by and I hope you will find the shot interesting, Bev :-)

Good morning Bev,
Not only is this a very well taken shot, but where you have really succeeded with this one is in the very expert cropping of the picture. I can't imagine that this was exactly as the picture was taken at the time and I believe you must have spent quite a bit of time and judicious consideration in deciding exactly where the boundaries of this image should lie.
And you have succeeded superbly! The upper parts of the lock gates dominate the foreground but they also beautifully frame the two boats which, enticingly, we can't see completely although we can see their names and also the activities of their boatmen.
What also fascinates me is that you have managed to achieve great depth of field here - at f/6.3 you have done very well to have those close gates and also the far distance both in sharp focus.
Lovely natural colours, good exposure and lots of detail and sharpness.

A fine daily life composition featuring these two passing barges that seem perilously close to one another. Well presented with good colours and sharpness.

En effet, les choses sont très serrées. Pas de place pour une bouée entre les deux.La pointe de l'écluse guide le regard dans la bonne direction.

Interesting narrow English barges.
We had two ones in the Canal of Briare in France this year.
How did they crossed the Channel ?
Best wishes for the new year

Hi bev, quite a big fraffic on the canal. And I see the lock here, too. I was on a narrow boat (during TE-meeting) and it was such a fun for me! It would be nice to make longer trip. Fine scene. Good photojob.

Canal tour with a small family boat, is a unique way to travel, and we don't have such opportunity in Israel, Beverly, that's why this picture is most intriguing for me, never done this.
The people on controls seem to be content, and being extra cautious when passing each other's.
Lovely shot, nice details,
Enjoy your weekend,

I love canal shots, and this closely cropped one shows how easy it is to make conversation as you navigate your way along the many canals of Britain. I find the names, colour schemes and homely decor of the canal boats a source of endless fascination, especially the household 'stuff' that is often littered around the deck or tied to the roof. And the plants, of course. Those lock gates look as though they've recently had some repair work done on them.
A belated happy new year to you.

Thank you for the words in my image. It's been long years..and now , so nice to watch your gallery. Here , the image is an interesting one , with human and mechanic power together, and not to forget nature too. The wait is worth, and you've captured a beautiful scene. Thank you for sharing.
Smile the days.
