The global financial crisis is taking its toll on all of us, and for the first time in centuries the new generations are likely to be poorer than the previous ones.
The "indignados" movement started in Spain last May, and brought thousands of students and workers in the streets to protest against a goverment and a financial elite that they feel are stealing their future.
The movement has quickly expanded, and this weekend thousands of protesters filled the streets in Asia, Europe and America.
A demonstration was going on in front of St.Paul's Cathedral in London: a great chance for me to have a look myself and take some shots. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful, with hundreds of people of all ages and nationalities, a proof of civic sense from both the protesters and the police forces.
I took about 30 shots while I was there, but I find this one particularly beautiful: the octopus, the resolute look on the guy's face, the overall symmetry make this picture a bit different from all the others.
No matter what you think, among these youths there are the leaders of tomorrow.

A great shot, well framed and exposed. The protestor does look determined. Let's hope these young people can think of better ways of running the world's economy.
The octopus character in the sign is from the TV comedy show The Mighty Boosh - he is always saying "This is an outrage!"
Humour is a good weapon to use against authority.

Yes, it's about the time for all hard working, ordinary, honest people to act. Let us not be afraid! The power of united people is much greater than the satanic lobby that creates misery and wars. God is on our side!

This picture could go straight into my morning paper. Nothing arty or fancy, but plain good quality and a strong and clear message.

A world revolution is starting and let's hope it will reach its aim peacefully.
It's a wonder how the greedy rich can expect to carry on ruling the world !
Thanks for this beautiful, meaningful picture.

Excellent "social" picture. A good way to express what a lot of people are thinking.

Hi Alberto, This image depicts what TE is all about.. it does n ot matter if its an historical, curtural, geographical and in this case political issue.. well posted.. It says so much and yes I agree that the next generations will be going through the tough financial times.. maybe it will be a time of wealth with true and proper values replacing selfishness and greed..
