Looking down this avenue of trees known locally as the "Dark Hedges" I was aware of traffic heading my way in the distance but on seeing this tractor I held my ground till he reached a certain spot before I fired the shutter. Its quite a big tractor and he weaved in and out avoiding the branches. He got alittle closer before I moved and I think he may have give me the fingers if you know what I mean.. Anyhow I got my shot and give him a wave for that.
These hedges are under threat by the DOE due to health and safety issues. It would be a shame to see this wonderful sight cut down, its like a scene from "Sleepy Hollow".

hello Stephen ,
For sure , you're a talentuous photographer , highly above the average of TE . But what I like a lot here , most than a great picture , is to discover the most beautiful alley of trees that i've ever seen .
Thanks for the share .

This really is a wonderful avenue of trees, a picture coming from a fairy tale, looking a little like a painting.
Too bad we don't know in which month the picture has been taken.
Best regards, Paul

The tractor gives a totally different atmosphere to this photo, emerging from one of the Hobbit's roads.

Excellent shot, well described. There's a magical quality to the shot that makes the trees seem alive and somehow reaching for the tractor. It would have been tempting to take the shot with just the trees and the great lighting but the inclusion of the tractor pulls in the viewer and makes the trees seem to come to life as they reach for interlopers on their avenue.

Very sharp, impressive photo, superbly composed and well executed to make the most of those fantastic intertwining trees. I love the sunlight in the dusty haze behind the tractor. I'm trying to imagine these trees in full leaf - must be dark in there, hence the name?
'Health and safety'? What about the health and safety of these incredible trees? Typical; the same sort of thing goes on here.
Glad you stood your ground, and the finger salute was a small price to pay.

I love you. :-) I mean I love your pictures and the fact you are able to add a funny moment to the view that would otherwise look majestic. The king of the road in his carriage... You have mad me laugh, thank you for that.

Nice picture with these strange trees. The light is excellent in the grass on both side and also behind the tractor.

Him Stephen. When I see the TE gallery, I like this beautiful photo very well. From the large number of photos it is noticeable for its good composition and originality. Excellent. Regards, Wolfgang.

I completely love this image. The light, the beautiful trees and the strong graphic effect. It would make a perfect illustration for a children's book. It's going into my theme "favourites 2010" if that's ok with you.

Great image Stephen, and I was lost in your story - you write well - I felt I was there with you as you 'held your ground' and the driver 'he weaved in and out avoiding the branches'.
We have all these new stupid 'health and safety issues' here too.
It's a beautiful scene and I'd hate to see the trees cut down

Wow, this is superb, Stephen. Judging from the rest of your gallery, you're more of a landscape photographer, but I usually prefer to have some human elements in. Like here. The trees are the outstanding feature, but it's the traktor that really pulls me into the shot. I also like the two lights there. Thumbs up, this is class!

This one stands out from your acknowledged approach, but conveying the same quality.
How could a tractor be betterly framed...Not only the tree alley is extraordinary, but the morning light kicks in to provide beautiful highlights on branches and drawing long shadows.
Yes, there is something out of Sleepy Hollow here.
Great work Stephen.
