Photographer’s Note
A follow on from my previous post from Settle (Yorkshire dales), this shot shows the continuation of the limestone formation at a lower level, a small track seperates the two.

A lovely dales scene with the gnarled tree growing through the limestone and the drystone walls snaking away in the distance. Nice subtle colours in the fields and sky.
I would maybe be tempted to crop a little of the sky to just above the tree.

Hi Stephen!
Beautiful shot. Love the colours and contrast between foreground and horizon. Have had a holiday in the Dales and you can't beat the scenery. You are lucky to live there! Great pic, well captured and the tree sets it off nicely.
Happy New Year.

great composition and colours; must come to yorkshire one day;
thanx for posting; the tree in front is cute, looks like trying to lean in order to make more room for the photography; nice shot

The light is beautiful, particularly on the fields separated by the walls of stones in the bottom.
Great composition too, with the tree in the foreground.
Really excellent, Stephen !

Sweet hills, soft light, a bare tree in foreground, nobody around: an amazing composition full of melancholy. Here we can still meditate in peace.

Wonderful light makes this beautiful shot, Stephen. Not to mention the landscape itself which is superb. I love the texture of the stones and your pov is so well chosen. I definitely would not crop the sky - the sense of airy space is so important to the mood of this lovely shot.

Nice composition and sharpness.
Nice to walk from the tree to the distant brickwalls.

Obviously, the lower view works better here, Stephen.
There's less of the dark grey sky but more of landscape to be seen.
And the composition here is much better. Of course, good light and colour management helps a lot.
Very good job - I'm pleased for you,
Robi

Beautiful tree as twisted as the stone fences that follow the land curves.
With the horizon swallowed by the clouds, the depth of this picture is impressive.

Nice stone texture and soft background are in nice contrast. You have good and not easy composition here, with the tree as the bigest object on the photo and the diagonal road.
I like it.

Beautifull landscape. Great colors. Nature can be strange : why did the only tree of this area grow thru the stones when there so much place next to them?
Great shot
