Photographer’s Note
Another picture of Pittenweem, one of my favourite places in the East Neuk of Fife and a very picturesque little fishing village it is too. You can read a lot more about it on the wonderful "Undiscovered Scotland" website here.
The long building with the red roof in the background is the Fish Market and the building to its left houses the Harbour Offices. "Challenger" lies proudly in the foreground.
Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6.

Hello John,
An excellent sharp and clear picture of these colourful boats.
Fine reflections too.
A good sense of perspective, with red boat to the fore, and a lead-line along the other less well painted ones astern, parallel to the the fish market buildings.
I wonder whether cropping a bit off the bottom of the picture would give slightly better balance to the composition.
I've tried a WS for your consideration.
Just realised I've reached my WS limit for today.
Tomorrow...................
Kind regards,
Peter.

Hello John,
I seem to viewing quite a few boats'n harbours scene lately (just viewed on by Gunnar) and that's good because I like the shapes of boats. These little boats have an intersting shape. Do they have a special name? I like your composition here, keepin a lot of foreground watre. This gives plenty of room for the superb reflections. Grea colpours and sharpness.

I have spent quite a while comparing your shot with the WS, as my first reaction was that I would crop some from the bottom. In fact I would probably have gone a bit further to have the proportions similar to how a landscape image would come out of the camera. Having said that it would be as well to inform you that I have an unreasonable desire to keep those proportions in my own work, with no justification whatsoever, so feel free to ignore my opinion! :D
The red boat certainly has immediate impact as red always does, and then our eye is naturally carried along the diagonal to view the rest of the scene. The light is very good and it has also had a positive effect on the water surface to produce the attractive reflections. Good shot from a part of Scotland I don't know anything about.
