Abandoned Quarry, Llangynidr, Powys, UK

Perhaps there are always an infinite number of possibilities, and it's only through force of habit - laziness and a lack of imagination - that we rarely drive our minds to consider more than two options: either THIS or THAT, we say with certainty - even in our uncertainty we allow only two options!

So, what have we here? Patterns formed from decaying metallic paint on a car headlamp found in an abandoned quarry. Hmmmm......two possibilities spring to mind!

Either, someone misjudged the effect of their teleportation/time travel experiment and ended up, car and all, encased in solid rock until such time as a quarry company chose this particular hillside to plunder - thereby releasing both car and (long dead) occupant into the spoils.....

OR

Someone is chucking their rubbish into an abandoned quarry in an attempt to avoid landfill taxes.

I really can't think of any other circumstances which might apply!

Hi Colin,
It is hard to figure out what it is, but it sure looks like a satellite image taken from space. Judging from the shadow it creates, the color element is floating on top of the still and shallow water. Yet looking at it again, it's not the shadow of this thing. The dark area is the wet suface of a concrete pad. Still don't know what the colorfull thing is. Whatever it is, nice capture of this abstract composition.

Hello Colin! Hm, this is a difficult one and needs several closer looks without - speaking for myself - finding out really what it could be but what counts is this strange beauty that we see and there is no need whatsoever to really understand what it might be. Wonder how you found this one, it really needs a good eye to see the potential. Good one ... PS. Roger was not at the Bethanien Clinic with his wife but at the Hirslanden to have their babies ... Tages-Anzeiger, today's edition, page 10 ... do we really need to know that ... LOL. By the way, it was so funny, when I read your comment I thought you did not realize that my picture was taken from an aircraft ... Benno said "women" ... they never understand a man's humour ... all so funny.

Another of your great artistic shots, you have quite the eye for the sort of little detail that jumps at our senses and we just can't figure out "WHAT the heck is THAT"?? and keeps us wondering... until you note releases us from the torment :D
