St John’s Point Lighthouse, Co Down

In 1908 the light was improved by the installation of the present bi-form lens. The gas jet burners were replaced with incandescent paraffin burners. In September 1954 the colour of the tower was changed from white with black bands to black with two yellow bands.

This image was possible by merging two images in order to capture the rays of light from the lighthouse. The sky and beams were captured at ISO 1000 with a higher shutter speed to freeze the beams. The lighthouse and water was captured at ISO 100 with a slower Shutter speed.

A very nice and moody picture, with a very nice blue color mode.
I am very fond of the "darker" pictures that need long exp.

this looks like an end of the world, the strong blue cast and surreal shapes of the rocks look like from some fairy tale land. technically perfect, as usual. great shot.

Another one of your amazing lighthouse shots! I just wish we had more lighthouses down this way.
As usual everything is amazing, and the blue colour gives such a moody feel.

a wonderful lighthouse shot! The blue here is striking and the rays of light are captured perfectly, of course that was only possible by merging the exposures, as usual you did a great job here. Another impressive shot, always a pleasure to have a look at your gallery!

As usual another great photo!
Nice colors, great shaped rock formations. The sky has a nice smooth like velvet touch and we can see the rays of light coming out of the lighthouse!

The whole scene is gorgeous showing a great atmosphere. Lighthouse create spectacular light band on the sky and water. I like blue-yellow colour contrast.
