Photographer’s Note

One last shot from the Mourne Mountains in Northern Ireland. Slightly different colours, settings and POV (approx. 5 cm from the water surface). Again it is the Silent Valley Reservoir with its unusual climate.

The Silent Valley Reservoir was built to gather water from the Mourne Mountains (Northern Ireland) and is the main water supply source for most of County Down and a large part of Belfast.

Ringed by mountains, 'The Valley', located within the Mourne Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, has become an important visitor attraction in Northern Ireland. It attracts around 50,000 visitors per year most of whom come to enjoy the peace and solitude of this mountain area with its unique landscapes and varied wildlife.

What you can also see in the Silent Valley Park is an impressive MourneWall surrounding the Mourne
catchment. It is 22 miles long and connects the summits of 15 mountains. The dams are ringed by mountains while the reservoir grounds contain parkland, lakes and ponds.
