I have just returned from a two week visit to my birthplace of Wales, and one day visited the Travellers Rest Inn which is on the side of Caerphilly mountain near Cardiff. The colours in the autumn light were soft and the thatched roof made an interesting subject as it is so rarely seen these days. In fact I heard that it is very difficult to get a thatched roof repaired as nobody is learning the trade any longer.

Wonderful place with thatched roof, seem to be peaceful to live in. It is invited me to come and stay. It's ashame to heard that nobody is learning the trade any longer, traditional thing should be taken care IMO.

Qu'il est agréable de revoir ces vielles maisons couvertes de chaume (matériau en voie de disparition, malheureusement). Il existe maintenant des méthodes modernes permettant d'assurer une conservation et une protection contre l'incendie, mais pas par les oiseaux qui tirent les éléments pour s'en faire des nids. Les spécialistes de ces toitures deviennent très rares, le coût de la réalisation est trop élevé par rapport à une toiture traditionnelle !
Une très belle prise de vue Joan. Très beau jeu d'ombres et de lumières.
Vous avez su capturer l'âme de cette maison.
