Evening at the Loch, a photo from South Lanarkshire, Scotland

Photographer's Note

Strathclyde loch is an artificial loch in South Lanarkshire, near Hamilton. It lies near The Clyde River between Motherwell and Hamilton. There are facilities for sailing in the lake, and many major competitions have been conducted here. Originally the site of the Low Parks of the Hamilton Estate, is was converted to a Loch in 1975. The site also has a Theme park, camping and caravaning site, the woods are great for a walk, you will even find ruins of a Roman Bathhouse nearby

Hi Manoj,

Nice evening shot and I like the smoothing effect the exposure length has had on the water and sky, and I like your use of the rocks to provide the foreground interest. The overall image is a little soft, and the horizon's not quite level which is distracting my eye a bit. Would be easy to fix in PP though.

Way to go here! In fact allow me one or two comments on this photo. First of all put the copyright note in a more subtle way and preferably on the left (generally somewhere not detail crowded). Second, maybe you'd like to add more sharpness to your theme, try Unsharp Mask with low values for beginning and see where it takes you.

The long exposure has given the water the look of ice. There is a nice mixture of textures in the rocks and the water.

Hello Manoj - You have some attractive landscapes in your gallery, the misty tree shots are lovely but I choose this shot to comment on because of the rich colours and your successful use of the slow SS. An atmospheric capture with a good feel for composition, the light across the RHS is wonderful. I like the way it slices through the rocks. Warm regards Rosemary
