Photographer’s Note
"... Oh, you shouldn't have done,
You couldn't have done,
You wouldn't have done the things you did then.
And we could've been happy.
What a piteous thing,
A hideous thing was tainted by the rest,
But it won't get any harder,
And I hope you'll find your way again..."

I think you found your style, Rob.
That series really rocks the frames...
One after another - the portraits of a certain, distinguished charm and their very, very own uniqueness.
I strongly believe - this is the best of them all.
Not a one, single pixel out of place...
The pose... The look on her face...!!!
Brilliant shot, dude...

This weekend was amazing! every single pic you upload is not only technically flawless but also rich in details.
I´ve read the title and I was paying attention to her lines and expression when my telephone rang. It was a friend from work inviting me to join his group to go on carnival parade.
When I hang up and went back to the photo it looked so sad! Sadder than it was before...

I´ve just read George´s comment and your reply to him.
Robi, sincerely, and i am saying this because i also tried to find my 'style', but in your case i think you´re so talented you do not need it.
A style somehow constrains the photographer´s regard and, by extension, his/her finger when pushing the button. But I must say your portraits are extrordinary! Also, the b&w you apply is just perfect. Thus, imo, keep shooting and do not care about style. Just try to feel what the image beggs for as pp, as you usually do.
Happy New Year! I owe you a big answer to your email about visiting Europe...

Hi Robi,
It's amazing how we get absorbed by her absorbed expression and look. Masterfully composed, technically spotless. A really great portrait! Bravo!

Hi Robert,
Beautiful portrait, with very expressive eyes! I like the grain the the dark tones as they enphasize the mood.

Hey Robert!
Great portrait you got here - lighting is superb with a gradient of tones texturizing the subject's face, the pose is well delivered and captured. Good B&W job!
TFS!

I wonder how many more you have from this event, Robi. It's growing and growing and each new post gives more strengh to the whole set. Another great shot with impressive image quality. I liked the colors in your first posts but don't miss them now - it's not easy for me to like so much b&w.
I never changed lens in France but found some lack of sharpness in many of my pics with the 18-55mm lens. I wonder is it was because of the dull weather and/or the use of high iso in most of them. I have a lot to learn...
cheers,
ric

hi robert,
You're producing some real gems lately, and this is another: spot on with the exposure, framing and post treatment.

I've been waiting for another one and here it is.
She has been waiting for her son to get off the train for a short leave from the front, only.........he isn't there! The disappointment will soon turn to anguish.
You captured that expression just right; even her position and the turn of the head is perfect. It's almost as if she posed for you, although I know that was unlikely. Like Ricardo my main preference is usually colour but this series couldn't be in anything else but this.

You made the theme :))) She looks like Vivienne Westwood, at least around her mouth. I sometimes see a woman that looks just like her when I ride the train. She is in her 50ies and wears army shoes and a mini skirt, I have to look at her all the time, I can't help it. Wonder where she works, probably not in a bank but you never know. I really wonder how you do this, I try it and nothing comes out other than a few nices. One after the other a true treat ... Good night, Barbara.

Olá Robert,
this photo captures in a natural way the expression of this women. The B&W give it a dramatic atmosphere.well done
