Photographer’s Note
Given that a lot of us have someone--be it our spouse/significant other, best friend, or family member--that we frequently drag along on our photographic exploits, I thought I'd upload a picture of my favorite person at one of my favorite places I've visited: my wife, in Snowdonia National Park, Wales. My wife's a traveller right through, but when it comes to photography...well...let's just say she's developed a lot of patience (and I've learned to be a bit quicker at shooting over the years). I liked Bob Garrigus' tribute to his wife a few months ago and thought I'd try one myself. So this shot is dedicated to my wife, who is better than I deserve and more patient with me than she should be. :)
This is another view of Snowdonia National Park in northern Wales, taken from a little road that I didn't plan on turning down near Llyn Ogwen. I was trying to find the trailhead for Llyn Idwal, and turned down this one-lane road that looked like it led to nowhere. The view was fantastic, however, so as my wife was standing looking out over the Ogwen valley, I snapped a few shots.
Snowdonia is the English term for the area surrounding Snowdon, the tallest peak in England or Wales. It was the third national park in the UK (after the Peak District and the Lake District), and the first in Wales. The area is very rugged, with tall rocky mountains, relatively few trees, and some of the best rock climbing and mountaineering in the UK. There are also numerous lakes and waterfalls for us hikers, and lots of scenic drives throughout the area. We almost skipped Snowdonia, because it was quite out of our way, but decided it couldn't be missed. It was certainly worth the long drive and the lack of sleep to see it.
This shot was taken a little while after the sun had set. We caught some beautiful weather that evening and the next morning--not a hint of bad weather while we were in Snowdonia. It was an absolutely beautiful place.

Hi Clark,
i totally get your note about the patience of the significant other...I'm quite lucky too in that department and your picture is a good idea. Notwithstanding the fact that it is a very good shot. Here I particularly like the soft rendering of the colors.
Best,
Philippe

Hi Clark,
I like a lot this type of green landscape- a stunning view with a great light and soft contrast. The depth of field is excellent thanks to the girl you included in the foreground of your composition. Well done!

Hi Clark,
This is something I like to do too, lose myself on welsh, scottish (maybe dangerous sometimes there lol) or irish mountain roads, you often discover wonderful points of view. You had a wonderful light here, the colours of the sky are very nice. Your wife is perfectly placed in the picture. Just a shame we can't see what she sees, it's a bit frustrating lol

Clark,
The shot works really well, and I think the figure really does balance up the composition. I hope you weren't shouting "No, left a bit, forward a bit!!" at your wife too much. :-)
It would be embarrasing to let you know how long it's been since I visited Snowdonia!
I remember Bob's shot - unfortunately he seem to have left us now.
Cheers

Hello Clark,
this picture is a fitting tribute to you your. I can understand you wishing to pay tribute as I have an equally understanding husband.
This is a very well balanced composition with your wife standing in just the right place within the frame. I like the light and colours here. The misty blue/grey of the mountain with the warm glow of the setting sun are a perfect combination.

Nice shot Clarke!
Your wife is well composed in the scene at a junction of thirds. Excellent colors and subtle yet sharp details. My only suggestion is to refrain from mentioning your family or friends in the shots as the mods just might remove it. ;-)
All the best!

Hi Clark,
This is a very good shot, you have captured this scenery very well with the fading light. You managed to get very nice details and still plenty of rich colors. I think it's a wonderful idea to include your wife for it will make this image much more meaningful and it really enhances the composition of this shoot, without her, it would still be a good shot, but she completes this composition.
The only thing I might have done differently is for her to turn to the left, but that is very minor details. I love the soft and smooth texture to the overall scenery and that rich pastel colors on the sunset sky. Excellent. My complements.
