Why is he taking his evening pipe on a morning bench?

The light is however very good even if it comes from a surprising direction. The colorscale so well kept together too.

I'm not a kind of portrait- sucker but this Work is extraordinary. I really like the way how You created this composition with excellent focus on the Man, perfect timing, and artistic ambiance. Superb rays on his back. Very Tolkien - like portrait :)
Fine note too, my feelings are mutual :)

What a sweet old thing- he is one of the few people to be able to pull of a tweed look. The way he's cupped his pipe in his hands and is carefully holding the flame is just wonderful. The out-of-focus background works great- that way you can see the nice little puff of smoke. Great work.

Very good, Jeff!
I like the upper orangey line as well as th elow sunlight setting on old man's back.
Th elow stone wall behind adds some chill to the image but acts well metaphorically.

Salut Jeff, très sympa ce monsieur en train d'allumer sa pipe. J'aime beaucoup la flamme de l'allumette qui vient de craquer. Tu as déclenché au meilleur moment.

Fab shot. Great how you caught him just as he was lighting up. Like the lighting and the soft focus background ensure that our focus remains on this chap. Great people watching pic.
