The Unreflected Truth
Blarn-y-Glyn Forest, Talybont, Powys, UK
The truth of this place is that very tall, shallow rooted trees set on steep rocky ground have a tendancy to topple - particularly in high winds.
As you wind your way up the path through this mayhem, you'll be dragging yourself over, under, and around the debris. Crouching down, whilst looking up, trying to release your rucksack. It can be a disorienting experience.

hi Colin,
love this shot, the strong diagonal and almost perfectly mirror-like arrangement of the branches are hypnotically fascinating. the various brown and green tones make the shot elegant, I like that a lot. unusual and creative approach that works really well, my compliments.
with best regards,
Kristine

Hello Colin,

a beautiful photo and intereting but I would'nt have put it with the sky in bottom! this problem of the uprooted trees recall us that nature and the trees and forests are alive and the not immutable and statics as our spirit would like to see them…

Hi Colin,
Interesting work. I like how you used the fallen tree as a diagonal to separate the fallen from the rising. Aesthetically, it also works very well. But I would also prefer it turned 180deg.
cheers,

Hi Colin
This is a very effective view of a well-known subject but taken at an angle which intrigues and surprises. I like the diagonals, and the detail and sharpness is excellent. An imaginative and creative shot.

Hello Colin,
Good shot, the diagonal composition works very well. Clean sharp image, creatively presented. Like others, I too have rotated the shot 180deg, to have a look. Your decision to present the image in this orientation is a much much more unpredictable approach to what would be the obvious. Excellent.
Cheers

Hello Colin,
Very original way to present this "disorienting experience". It could be the pine view, face against the soil. Quite disturbing !
The photo is beautiful, with great colors and light as well as the graphism. Excellent !

Hello Colin
I do like this one.Love the idea to rotate or shoot in this way.Looks so great.
It`s a bit dizzy, not knowing which part is the real one, that`s why I like it.
Square format choosed is the better way IMO.
Great title for a great shot.
Thanks for your constant visit of my gallery.
Have a nice weekend,
Lucian
