Photographer’s Note
Hidden Canyon
River Usk at Llangynidr, Powys, UK
Could, I guess, be the continuation of an semi-conscious series in which South Wales meets the American Southwest! Here, early morning on the River Usk does a passable stylistic impersonation of Canyon De Chelly, perhaps?

Hi Colin,
I guess you could call this a still life. I have a friend that does colour pencils of rocks, with your permission I'd love to send him a copy of this, I know he'd love it too.
The colours are wonderful, so subtle in this perfect light.
Superb composition using the vertical crop, excellent capture.

Hi Colin,
It does have something that reminds me of the Southwest - although I immediately thought not of Canyon de Chelly but rather of the slot canyons (probably not Antelope because that's too colourful, but there are some others that are more brownish/greyish, and have similar smooth textures).
Anyway, superb composition, very artistic. Should look great in b&w, too.
Thanks for sharing, best wishes

Colin,
I really enjoyed your series of shot of these wonderful rock, I like the smooth texture and the color variations, I especially like the graying and gradually blending into the warmer tone, and the smaller rocks scatter around so causually yet so visually beautiful. and the way the shadow give them their dimension and roundness. Reminded me when I first lean to dran an egg when it's just a white oval shape the only what to make it seem round is to capture the light and it shadow. Very nicely observed and well taken. I really like it. Thanks

Hello Colin! I just went through my stone collection the other day that I have on my terrace for decoration and some I could remember where I collected them, some I forgot ... came to my mind when I saw this picture some days ago. Great idea of yours and I really would like to see how you see, you approached this wall so different, I probably would stand there not knowing where to begin. Beautiful soft colors with wonderful warm light. No need to go to America, you have it right there ... but I know what you mean :))) Best regards, Barbara.
