Photographer’s Note
Source of Rhiangol.
A short walk just before dusk.
Following the Y Grib ridge leading east from Castell Dinas very soon opens onto panoramic views in every direction: This is the view looking approximately south.
The crack in the sunlit mountain is the source of the Rhiangol Brook, which tumbles from this spot into the valley below, passing through several small villages, notably Cwmdu and Tretower. After ten miles or so the Rhiangol joins the River Usk at Glanusk, just west of Crickhowell.
This photo is a panoramic stitch of two shots never intended to be joined. Noticing that they were more or less sequential, I thought I'd give it a go to see what happen, and ran the images through Panorama Maker. Superficially, the results seemed quite good although, oddly, there was a farmhouse and buildings (Grafog) to the bottom right of the first photo, and bottom left of the second photo which the programme has failed to resolve in any way - omitting it entirely from the stitch! :-)

landscape in its better forms..panorama
this always gives me the impression of space...horizontal...and what the great tracts of land are...you cant walk on skies.
i love this for its sincere colours and suggestion that the surreal can exist in reality
i really must visit this area
i did live in west penwith, cornwall where we had a castle dinas..a hill fort...but nothing to match this shot...which with your permission i will borrow for my collection of relaxing photographs..if you dont object
cheers

Wonderful!A perfect stitch Colin- the effect is a great panorama of a beautiful view with fantastic colours, The light adds a lot to it as well- the shades from clouds an the mountain (i suppose) enrich the palette of hues. I've really got to try landscape stitching...
best regards:-)

Great shot Colin! The colours are marvelous, with deep greens and bright oranges. This looks like it was taken from an airplane, it has such a high vantage point. I never would have guessed it was a stich, so well done on the PP, and for the shot too!

It's seems to be so peacefull, so quiet, the perfect place to rets when you're fed up of everything. Colors are very strong, luminous an dnatural, light is sweet, the courbs are sweet. It's very well done

Despite your obvious talent for taking waterfall/moving water shots I really think some of your landscapes are the strongest pictures in your gallery. The American ones are very bold and graphic but I love the bucolic feel of this one. I'm from England and used to go hiking very often but I haven't done it in a long time there. This kind of scene makes me homesick. Technically strong, clean and simple composition and wonderful light all combine to make a strong image.
Well done, PHIL

Hello Colin,
Great coloured puzzle, indeed !
It looks like an aerial photograph.
Thanks.
