Path in the Hills

Creig Cerrig Gleisiad, Powys, UK

Walking in the Brecon Beacons around the Craig Cerrid Gleisiad nature Reserve near Brecon. Across the way, the areas highest peak, Pen-y-Fan, plays hide and seek with the shifting weather.

gorgeous light. I'm a huge fan of "path" pictures. There is something hopeful, even romantic about a path leading us through the scenery. I have yet to really explore wales yet. Pictures like this make me realize I really should! Well done!

Beautiful soft colours and the light is stunning.
I like the way you've composed the shot using the path and fence line to lead into the shot. The lone walker adds the human touch which I like.

Hello Colin,
A really nice picture, very well composed. The diagonal line formed by the green path and the fence ends superbly in the person standing far away. Colours and sharpness are first class and there are some fine shades among the hills,

Great shot Colin, this is a wonderfully empty landscape and once again shows the real beauty of nature "unenhanced" by man...

Color and detail are great and the fence and stones make it work superbly. Great capture.

Well, we just have to follow the path and enter into this beautiful hills and open field for nice walk. Very refreshing atmosphere, nice and open, we can see far into the horizon. Nice golden warm light illuminating the landscape. simple, clean and beautiful composition.

Hello Colin! I just began a little "hiking session" with some of my photos on TE so I had to smile opening your post. I like how the clouds "work" on the hill and that you have another hiker in your photo and for me personally this makes the picture work - no question. Little details but important to make the dot on the i. What a great view up here, wind-swept and wild. Excellent quality ... Barbara.

Hi Colin,
A beautifully atmospheric shot with those autumn colours and soft play of light and shadows. The walker is perfectly positioned at the focus of all those converging lines and on the route that our gaze follows from the foreground path up to the peaks on the right. The slightly panoramic format works very well.

I like the sense of freedom this open landscape
inspires. Good inclusion of the guy towards the
end of the path. Nice play of soft colors adding

An inviting scene Colin, making me want to visit this area to do some walking.
Lovely lines with the fence and wall leading us towards the walker and the distant hills.
Well presented,the framing seems to suit this picture.

Hi Colin,

I was looking through your gallery and stumbled across this gem! Shadows, light, path, fence, rock, grass, clouds, human, hills - the elements combine so beautifully.

I really must also congratulate you on not over-saturating the photo (my fatal mistake). The colours are soft, muted and just saturated enough to remain realistic yet expressive and enticing.
