Tenby: St Catherine's Island

This is my first photo from Wales, which I visited last week. The photo was taken last Friday, on the last day of my holidays, which also was the day with the best weather. It shows the beach of the charming town of Tenby and St Catherine's Island in the background.

Tenby (Welsh: Dinbych-y-Pysgod, which means little town of the fishes/little fortress of the fish) is located in Pembrokeshire, south-west Wales.
St Catherine's Island (Welsh: Ynys Catrin) is a tidal island, linked to the town of Tenby at low tide, like here. It's home to a fort, which was built in 1870 to protect Pembroke Dock.
The water in the background is Carmarthen Bay, the land in the left hand background is Caldey Island. The flag in the foreground is the flag of Pembrokeshire.

Lars,
This is a great beach shot! The addition of the fortress adds nice contrast to the beach. The vending truck makes for a nice focal point. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. The flag in the foreground add a good point of interest as well as adding depth to the scene.

Welcome back Lars after a looong break!
This is such a typical British beach scene the tourist board would probably buy it from you.:D I also find it very nostalgic as I think back to distant childhood. The ice-cream van is essential and the wind-breaks a necessity. All that is missing is the Punch & Judy show. Well done

Hoi Lars,
Grappig contrast tussen het drukke zonnige strand en dat mossige eiland met kasteel dat je eerder onder een zwaar wolkendek verwacht.
Dat de mensen op dit strand ook allemaal akelig wit zijn geeft aan dat dit weer hier niet al te vaak voorkomt.

on imagine mal des régions du Royaune Uni aussi balnéaires, la photo est très vacancières et cette belle plage invite à la détente.

Welcome back once again. You seem to have made a number of come back by now and I guess that you are busy with other things than TE. This is a wonderful summer picture. In the thumbnail it seemed like someone brought the Swedish flag to mark his position on the beach hehehe!
A typical summer scenery well depicted, with a pleasant mix of leisure and culture...
With the beach full of details the castle and the island are the eye-catchers!

De vakantie is weer voorbij, maar zo te zien heeft u genoten de laatste dag.
Gezellig druk, niet overmatig, dit heeft u prachtig kunnen vast leggen in een mooie foto.
U maakt prettig gebruik van dit kleine eiland in de achtergrond.

Hallo, Lars. Dit is een kleurrijke foto met een goed evenwicht tussen voor- en achtergrond. De vlag aan de rechterkant geeft een goede diepte aan het beeld en het heuveltje met het kasteel erop komt goed uit op het zand. Er is een goed contrast tussen het zand aan de ene kant en de zee en het eiland aan de andere. Ik had misschien een andere opening gekozen; met zo'n licht kon je zeker f/8 kiezen.

Great contrast between the beach full of pepole sunbathing, and the old fort hanging on top of the small rocky island, a bit like symbols of Peace and War. And nice colors in this sunny view.

Olá Lars, excellent composition, good use of the flag and colors in FG. Many people at sight but not so much as in Algarve ;-) and problably not so hot as well. Nice presence of the fort in the island. I imagine that van seels something good to eat...

Hi Lars,
I like the bright colors here, and the compo is good with the flag on the side and that tidal island with castle on the top looks grat and contrasts with how the beach is crowded!

Hello Lars,

As always an excellent note informs the image. The well composed scene of course has the rocky outcropping as its main subject with the swimmers/sunbathers frolicking in the sun (apparently somewhat rare). The inclusion of the flag is a brilliant decision, making the image far more interesting.
