Photographer’s Note
This again was taken at the Dingle ( a local woodland )in Llangefni, Anglesey. This old railway line used to run from Gaerwen in central Anglesey to Amlwch in North Anglesey. It was closed down by Dr. Beeching in the late 1960s. It was used after that to transport chemicals from the Associated Octel Co. Works in Amlwch
to the Oil Refineries in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. The
works were involved in the production of bromine from sea water which was used to manufacture anti-knock products used in fuel for the motor industry. They ceased to use the line in the 1980s and reverted to road transport. The line has now been left to deteriorate but a new company the Isle of Anglesey Railway Co. are in negotiations with British Rail with a view of leasing the line for running steam trains as a tourist attraction.Apparently they have already got the trains to be used and it is now only the cost of upgrading the line which is holding them back.

No need of an iron horse when the scenery is complete. The angle is correct, no foot prints in between the rails, sparse sun rays: this is a beautiful one and gives me ideas other than this another one located at Rousseau's Mill

ANother wonderful snow capture. Excellent use of the rails as lead-in. Interesting note about the possibility of steam trains. At least the rails are still there. Most of them have been pulled up around here.

Good timing with this one! Nice show cover, but there's so little of it, there's still some rail details visible. The condition does not look so bad. I guess this does not require too much work to be good enough for light tourist use.

Its still a very pleasant winter scene Malcolm, the exposure is spot on as is the DOF and i do like the way the line curves away into the distance. If the project does take off it will be good to have standard gauge steam in North Wales to compliment all that wonderful narrow gauge.
