Photographer's Note
A Kisbee ring is another name for a life belt. It is thought to be named after Thomas Kisbee (1792–1877) who was a British naval officer. This is the ONLY one at the end of the 1.7 mile long Anglesey breakwater. Given the location and depth of surrounding water I'm thinking one is not enough!
Some modern lifebuoys are fitted with a seawater-activated light, or lights, to aid rescue at night. This one wasn't! They are often subjected to vandalism, which can lead to fines of up to £5000 and/or imprisonment in the UK, as a lack of this essential device has been, in the past, the cause of deaths.
Enjoy.

Hi Michael
like this! The composition and elements here are classic and the effect dramatic and quite wonderful. The textures are amazing as is the DOF and the sharpness, but is is the red lifebelt that makes it so attractive and eye-catching. Superb!

Hello Michael,
An excellent viewpoint where that red life belt has immediate impact; its protruding wall adds to this effect. The guide lines are strong and after the f/g impact, everything leads to the focal lighthouse, from which the sky appears to be rdiating.
It appears like another HDR shot.
The colours and the textures are very strong.
Well done.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)
Have you had a lot of snow this w/e?

Hello Michael ,
This view of the light house is extremely well composed , with the eye catching red life belt in the FG , and with an effective POV . Poor light , but strong atmosphere with this interesting cloudy sky .

Ciao Michael
Una bella foto che si fa notare per il forte contrasto che mette in evidenza il grigiore della giornata.
Nella composizione hai messo in gran risalkto il rosso del salvagente e ritengo indovinata la tua scelta.
Ottima anche la nitidezza.
In sintesi uno scatto indovinato e ben realizzato
Ciao

Hello Michael,
intersting subject and note accompanying. Very nice POV and composition. I like the way how the ring contrasts with the rest of quite gloomy colors. It seems to symbolize life and light somehow.
Thanks for sharing!

hi michael,
this is a stunning composition. the red life belt is visually eye-catching, even in the smaller thumbnail image. it contrasts superbly with the more muted and duller tones of the stone walls, the sea and the sky. the detail is incredible. i love the perspective looking along the wall towards the steps and the lighthouse.
have lovely evening,
brian

Ciao Michael
il salvagente rosso fa da calamita agli occhi, ma la prospettiva porta lo sguardo fino al faro, ottima la qualità e bella la composizione.

See, I look at this and think 'Glad they thought to put one there!'
Was this another HDR attempt? If so, this has a much more naturalistic look to it, and is quite similar to the coloration and saturation I've seen from you at this particular spot before. The POV is great, with the bright ring drawing the eye in and then setting it loose down the wall to the lighthouse. As usual, a great roiling gray sky above. And, as John mentioned it, congrats on #100! Many more to come, one hopes.

Hi Michael,
Awesome lighting in this, the scene by itself is class, but the sky looks brilliant, and the whole scene is very real and 3D. The Kisbee ring looks an excellent colour contrast to the who image. Really nicely done!
All the best

Hello Michael,
Excellent point of view! This with the lower
position makes the picture exciting and it
creates also a nice depth (diagonal lines).
The lifebelt is a nice break and it emphasize
extra the depth. Composition and the light
management are also great.
Friendly regards,
Robert Alderliefste
