Have you ever read 'Under Milkwood'?
The story all takes place in a small Welsh village called LLareggub. If you reverse the name of the village, you will understand the humour of the author Dylan Thomas. (If you would like to know a little more about 'Under Milkwood' this link will give you some useful information.)
Well, it was a book we had to study when I was in 6th form and I just loved it. I had a vision of Llaraggub in my mind and when we visited Cemaes Bay, on Anglsey, I knew I had found it!
This photograph is the epitome of my LLareggub!
A sleepy little Welsh village with harbour and moored boats. There were shops and people but none quite matched the characters of Mrs. Ogmore-Pritchard, Myfanwy Price, Captain Cat, Dai Breads, Polly Garter, etc. or maybe we were not there long enough to assess the characters! Who knows ...!
Have a great w/e, Bev :-)

A delightful light to capture this little harbour with so much to see. Houses and boats all jumbled together. Very good colours and sharpness. Can't say I'm a fan of Dylan Thomas but love the play on words. I wish you a pleasant weekend.

Hello Berverley ,
A charming little port , as we can find in Brittany , too . I prefer them a lot to big marinas .
Sorry , but may English is not good enough to understand the play on words ;)

A very pleasant view and it seems to have been a beautiful day, still a summer atmosphere here. It looks like high tide here. Did you take this picture from the parking place across the estuary?

An interesting note but, oh dear, you've spelled the place name wrongly - it's "Llareggub"!
This is a lovely view of this pretty place which I certainly must make an effort to visit again sometime, particularly as it must be around sixty years since last I was there and it would be interesting to see just how much I can recall when I go there.
It looks a lovely peaceful and sleepy little place and you have captured it very well with a lovely composition, fine summery light and colours and exquisite details and sharpness.

A nice simple scene of this little harbour town. You have captured the tranquil atmosphere of the place beautifully. The soft and gentle sunlight makes beautiful coloration over the harbour and houses. Nicely done.

remember reading DT's novel as a kid in school, was naturally popular as we had a Literature teacher from the Valleys. Cannot remember if I liked the story about this little place or not, but I do like the look of it here in this shot. Looks sleepy and decidedly beautiful.
Have an enjoyable Sunday - B.
Warm sun here at the moment, but midweek looking horrendous again. B.

Hi Bev - Your note made me giggle, I didn't know that snippet about '*u**er all'; hilarious! This looks like a lovely small place and if you like a place that has '*u**er all' going on this is the spot to relax in. I wonder how this spot did in the wild winter winds? Warm regards rosemary

This is a little beauty at high tide. If I remember rightly, the BBC required a slight name change to Llaregyb so that maiden aunts wouldn't spill their tea, should they ever work out the inverted spelling! But luckily it's the original spelling that has survived. Charming little place. TFS

I have to admit, I'm not familiar with the story, but your note to accompany this image provides quite a bit of additional intrigue and atmosphere. Isn't it great when we can relate something personal to a photograph, I love that kind of connection...and it always seems to shine through to the viewer. Case in point, I honestly do get the sensation of this being a sleepy little village and harbour.
Perhaps it the suggestion from your note itself, or the lack of people here, or even just the handful of small boats scattered around the dock area...but it doe's appear quite laid back and easy going. Bright, sharp and a soft touch of peaceful ambiance. Enjoy the week ahead. Take care.
Clever little play on the towns name. :)

un piccolo porto per un piccolo villaggio, sembra tutto molto tranquillo.
Ottima inquadratura, sembra di essere su una barca e osservare il paesaggio, molto belli i riflessi tenui sull'acqua.
