[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is Black Point in Penmon Nr Beaumaris in south east Anglesey. The lighthouse was built soon after a shipwreck occurred (Rothesay Castle) in 1831. Penmon is home to the ruins of a monastery dedicated to St Seiriol which was built sometime in the 12th Century.
The island to the left of the lighthouse is called Puffin Island and it is reputed that St Seiriol is buried there.
The island as its name suggests was home to many puffins but in the 1890 brown rats got onto the island and in no time at all had decimated the nesting grounds. Puffins at that time were also considered a delicacy and were caught in their thousands and in no time at all the island had no puffins at all. In 1998 the Countryside Council for Wales commenced with a program to rid the Island of rats and at present puffins are starting to recolonise.

The headland in the far distance just visible through the haze is Llandudno's Great Orme.

Thanks for alerting me to your gallery. I notice that you have some Fujichrome shots here. Very nice indeed, and still streets ahead of digital on the quality front. Well, I particularly like your latest offering, which gives us excellent exposure and sharpness (as you would expect from slides). The curved landscape leads nicely to the lighthouse and draws the viewers eye in nicely. The bird is slightly out of focus, but that doesn't detract from the overall effect.
Thanks for sharing.
Aubrey

Hi Malcolm,
Very good composition, with good lead-in lines taking you through the interesting vista. The flat sky does not make for the best images - why not minimise the impact by cropping it to a minimum (though it does give this image a destinct 'moody/misty' feel).

Nice one.

This is a beautiful and serene image. I love the simplicity, yet there are tiny details to admire. There is no scanning damage. Well done
Kath
