Bringing home the catch Photo

Photographer’s Note

Returning to the harbour which lies under the walls of Caernarfon Castle, this small fishing boat is bring back a catch of shellfish.

The structure to be seen in the background, with the diagonal supporting cables, is the swing bridge that has been opened to let the boat pass through.

A colourful boat and a photo that makes you happy! All these colours and the structured composition with the supporting cables that continue in the boat, makes this a very attractive picture.

Hello, Peter.

And back again to Wales. Another fine shot from your trip to Caernarfon Castle.

I have to agree with Gunnar that this is a happy picture. The bright red boat dominates the picture and, although it would benefit from a lick of new paint, the scruffy look of the stern of it makes it all the more interesting.

The detail is superb and I'm peering at all those boxes on the deck wondering what each contains. And the angle of the lines of the supporting cables of the bridge and the wake of the boat form an "arrow" directing the eye to the left to that little cluster of jaunty boats in the distance.

Very nice indeed!

Hi Peter.
Good capture of this colourful fishing boat and its wake. You did well with the composition of this moving subject, to include the boats off to the left side, and get some kind of match-up of the boat's rigging and the bridge supports. The detai is good, although when I look closely at the boat I tend to think it is very slightly over-sharpened. But maybe I am just looking too closely! It's a successful shot, with the boat really livening up the scene.
