Photographer’s Note

Taken from the same location as my last submission in Snowdonia, this is a shot of the Afon Nant Peris, a mountain stream that runs along the Llanberis Pass. I pulled up in a layby on the A4086 and found a gap in the wall that let me walk down right alongside the edge of the stream to take this shot. I'm stood in almost the same location as this one, but facing the up the valley rather than down it.

Again the light was really variable, and the sky was quite dull and grey so I've tried to leave it out as much as possible. I wanted to try and compose it so that the sky didn't feature at all, but also wanted to incorporate the bridge at the top of the shot and didn't think it would look right without the sky there.

I wanted to slow the shutter speed down to around 1s to capture some movement in the water, and given this was around midday even with the cloudy sky I couldn't acheive this without the ND filter. I probably didn't need a full 3 stop ND, but it was all I had in my bag.

As ever please let me know what you think, I'll change tack to some Coastal shots tomorrow!

Cheers
Simon
