Photographer’s Note
Taken on my recent trip to Snowdonia, this is a shot of the Afon Nant Peris, a mountain stream that runs along the Llanberis Pass. I pulled up in a layby on the A4086 and found a gap in the wall that let me walk down right alongside the edge of the stream to take this shot.
The light was really variable as there were fast moving clouds, but to get the 1/2s shutter time I wanted, I needed to use an ND filter as even with the narrowest aperture I couldn't slow it down this much without using the filter. I know this effect on the water isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I have a personal liking for it.
I tried to use the snaking stream combined with the descending line of the hills on both sides to lead you in from front to back down the pass, and positioned that lone tree off centre to provide some additional interest.
As ever please let me know what you think, and look out for more from the Snowdonia area from me over the next few days.
Cheers
Simon

hello Simon,
very good capture, well seen and well done. The light managment is excellent here and I suppose the graduated filter was very helpful for this shot. I must admit this is a landscape I would love to go and photograph. Good colors and crispy details. Well taken.

Hi Simon, Very nice exposure, colours and composition. The overall effect is very peaceful. The tree you mention is not very obvious, but thanks for pointing it out, you have achieved what you intended with the stream, TFS,Manoj

Good evening Simon!
I like this one! The composition truly is skillful and the eyes are nearly drawn into the scenery by this point of view. The pattern of light and shadow creates a wonderful effect. A great photo of a great landscape!
Greetings from wet and cool Germany!

Hi Simon,
I love it ! The point of view is very good, with the river driving our look to the back of the valley. I love the perspective of mountains falling into the valley. I love too the effect on the water though I am not usually a great fan of it, but you used it just like you needed. You just missed a great light, but you can't choose weather ;)
Regards,
Olivier

Hi Simon,
Very nice shot, I like the POV, it put us right in the middle of the stream and flowing into the scenery of beautiful and natural setting of valley surrounded by pristine mountains, good exposure for such low light, rich colors and tone, good composition, good sharpness and details. Thanks

Hello Simon,
A view in dark colours fitting to the wild landscape, and well contrasting with the milky water flow.
