Photographer's Note
This shot was taken around this time last year and is indicative of the current UK weather conditions. It is a shot looking down the Llanberis pass in North Wales with Mount Snowdon behind me as I took the shot. The road, which is just out of shot to my right here is one of the most scenic and awe inspiring roads I have ever travelled down and I have been up and down it many, many times and it never fails to blow me away with it's atmosphere of eternal majesty. Unfortunately you can't get a sense of that from this shot so I urge you to visit if you are ever in the UK and you'll see what I mean.
Enjoy.

Hi Michael
the snow theme is topical at the moment with so many wonderful shots being posted. Like this one as it is a different take and so striking in B&W. Sharp fg detailing and an enticing comosition that is full of wonderful textures and tones. Like it a lot!
Enjoy the weekend - Brian.

Hello Michael
I see you've invested in Nik Silver FX Pro! You probably know my penchant for monochrome, so I was immediately drawn to this photograph. It's a good choice for b/w treatment, and it seems to emphasise the cold and bleak atmosphere. Beautifully framed, and well exposed (always a challenge in snow, which as I'm sure you know, often fools light meters into under-exposure). Lovely work.

Will

Hello Michael,
very nice quality B&W photography with excellent composition. The whole place looks quite severe and the winter season only highlights this atmosphere. Very well balanced contrast and sharpness.
Thanks for sharing

Great stark B&W, Mike - there's a bit of a wasteland shot to this, with the snow, clouded sky, barren tree and faraway cabin (I think?) adding scale to the shot. I like the creative border as well, giving it an old snapshot look.
I wish we'd get some decent snow that would stick so I could contribute my own snow shots to the recent onslaught, but everything we get seems to be gone the next day, even when it's a few inches!

Hi Michael,
There is a great sense of barren majesty in your shot, and it does like a s pentacle place. The tree in the right foreground makes it seem quite desolate, but nonetheless beautiful. Really good choice of black and white which sets a wonderful somber mood.
All the best
Noel
