Photographer’s Note
From the Barmouth town brochure:-
"The first record of Barmouth as a small port on the
Welsh coast was in 1565 in a survey commissioned by
Queen Elizabeth 1. Subsequently Barmouth and the Afon
Mawddach developed as one of the major ship building
centres in Wales during the 18th and 19th centuries"
Nowadays, there are still some fishing boats here, but Barmouth is mostly famous as a holiday destination with its fine sandy beach, and the scenery of Snowdonia close at hand.

Hello Peter ,
A beautiful boat , grounded on the sand , and a very nice background , despite the cloudy weather . Superb colors and contrast . I like a lot the little welsh flag in the dark sky .

Hello, Peter.
I suspect that this was taken on a fairly dull day and yet, despite that, it has "punch" with fine saturated colours and a beautiful sky. I suspect that your polarising filter helped a lot with this. In fact, that broody sky and the dark hills make a fine backdrop to the bright colours of the boat. I can almost feel the texture of that foreground sand too.
I like the composition too: I know that the main subject appears centrally placed, but I think the main subject, or focal point, is not the entire boat but the wheel-house of the boat and it does lie at the "golden point".
Excellent!
Best Wishes,
John.

Hello Peter,
A very interesting shot of the detailed boat, high and dry.
I like the angled shot of it and the anchor rope going directly into the corner.
The misty b/g makes a wonderful backcloth for the boat and the tall masts.
Just a little cropped from the left does, in my opinion, improve the composition.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

hello Peter,
I like the colours and blue of the hills and sky beyond. And what a cute little boat, can we have huggable boats too?

Hi Peter.
A nice shot! What I really like are the flashes of colour BEHIND the main boat - the other boats, the flag, the red thingy under the flag. The boat is nicely positioned so that its cabin becomes the off-centre focal point. There's a touch of colouration in the sky, most likely from the polariser, but it was well used to enhance the light falling on the beach.
Regards,
Andrew

Peter
I think I was last there as a twelve year old.Good simple composition with the lowering sky. I like the spots of red in the otherwise blue/yellow scheme. Since we don't have a tide in Greece we rarely see boats in this position.
Regards
Phil
