Photographer’s Note

Chirk Castle is a 700 year old marcher fortress, which commands fine views over the surrounding countryside. It was built in the late 13th century by Roger Mortimer, Justice of North Wales for Edward 1. The castle was sold for 5,000 UK pounds to Sir Thomas Myddelton in 1595 and his descendants continue to live in part of the castle today.

Hello Geof,
The panoramic format works very well here; I like the emphasis on the swathe of lawn that leads the eye towards the castle via the flower beds. Good natural colours and fine clarity. I wonder how much £5000 in 1595 would be worth now?

Good choice of a wide angled panoramic format. Well composed, with the castle neatly positioned on the one third axis. Excellent sharpness & realistic colour & good, diffused light. Tfs!

The greenery instantly caught my attention from the thumbnail view.It is so gorgeous and so refreshing to see.It seems like a cover of velvet.Excellent colour saturation.The distant building has added a nice perspective as well.Lovely pano framing - I feel the dull sky has inspired you for this pano feel?
