Photographer’s Note
I have already posted a photograph taken two years ago, very close to this point of view. The light was much better on my recent visit, and the painted houses and the town itself had been spruced up for the celebrations marking the bicentenary of the building of the town and its harbour in 1807.
The town and harbour are of great interest for me, as it was here between 1830 and 1864, that my great-grandfather Henry Harries, his brother John junior and their father John, built a large number of wooden sailing ships.
The site of their shipyard lies on the left of the harbour entrance, though no trace of it now remains.
A memorial to them and other Aberaeron shipbuilders was erected last year. I hope to post a picture of this at a later date.
Taken as JPEG: PP in PS7 and FastStone.

Hello, Peter.
Although this picture was taken two years after your last photograph, nothing very much seems to have changed. I see at least three boats which seem to be "parked" in exactly the same place as two years ago - do these boats have official designated "parking places"? It would seem that you can't just "park up" your boat just anywhere in the harbour - is that right?
But this picture has benefitted from the better and brighter lighting. The colours seem more vibrant and there's a little more contrast around, especially in that lovely sky.
An excellent note too - this place must hold special interest for you because of its history and its links with your family.
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Peter!
That's a pretty nice photograph!
I like the colors, the pov and composition with all those boasts, the colorful buildings, the cloudy but still blue sky!
It's a pleasant view and I do love it!
TFS - Congratulations!
Warmest regards,

Hi Peter,
This seems like a very attractive place and, in my eyes, many with similarities to Brittany. I thought at first that a cropping of the lower part might benefit the whole composition. But then again, that would take away that plank (?) on the left side, it seems to lead into the motive, and also the green part on the right side that adds some colours. What is the party tent to right about, some special occasion going on?
Greetings from Gothenburg

hello Peter,
a very nice blue skyy, lovely light and attractive colours of the buildings. Interesting note too. I envy you your heritage. Since a girl I have always liked the look of wooden sailing boats, especially in full sail.
Bev

You have some nice angles here Peter, on left and right, leading into the picture. I like the strong colours of the houses and the boats, contrasted with the more sombre, natural, Welsh colours.

Hello Peter,
You have chosen a really good pov to view this excellent harbour scene.
Wonderful contrasts in the textural details: a rugged, stony beach, mirror-glazed water in the m/g and a smooth, pale blue sky in the b/g.
I like the details of the pastel shaded houses which, although in Wales, remind me of Balamoray!
Lovely, thoughtful composition, nicely balanced and using features to make natural borders.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)
