Situated at the far end of a minor road in west Harris the white sands of Traigh Mheilen shine in the summer sun on the shores of Caolas an Scarp. The last permananet resident left the nearby island of Scarp in 1971.
The island - all 1045ha - comprises of gneiss and rises to a height of 1000ft at Sron Rumul, on its western end. |
