Photographer’s Note
Having listened to your views on my last post of Neist point lighthouse Iv pulled this one out of the archives which has a similar composition but higher up on the rocks to show a little more colour also. This is a wider shot than the link I give in my last post.
If I am lucky enough to get back to Skye this year Il spend a little more time in this region as it has such potential. I believe that the basalt rocks in this region closly resemble the formations of the Giant's Causeway in the north of Ireland. I was so pre-occupied with the lighthouse I never took much notice of that.

There’s enchantment here, Stephen. I love the breadth of colors in your palette here; the warm, soft lighting; the fine portrayal of dimension and scale; the vivid, clear detail; the point of view against the sea, in general, and as we look at the beacon, in particular. Very nicely done.

Jim

Hi Stephan. The composition is absolutely gorgeos and the weather was on your side too. The motion would have been much darker without the bit of bleu sky you got. Both FG and BG are balanced thanks to their different colours. Perfect! Tibo

hi
If this is not HDR or HPP, it is a great work to compose such a nice view of landscape with FG colors under stormy sky. Effective use of warm light for f/22 clarity.

By the way, this is now your 300th post, so congratulations Stephen!
The way I see the little pink flowers in the foreground, it's like 300 candles... :-P) But you don't have to blow them, because I'm sure the harsh wind from Skye island already did it for you...
I'm not Adam Burton, I'm not Luis Afonso, but I can still appreciate a great landscape. This one is absolutely mind blowing. This spectacular image is the result of a masterful job, from the work behind the camera to the work behind your computer screen.
Thumbs Up!

what can I say, Steve, this is a stunning photo, excellent choice for the number 300 :) I like a lot how the curve of the rocks in the foreground leads the eye towards the lighthouse, and how the bright colours in the lower left corner contrast nicely with the dark sky in the opposite corner. and you're right the rock formations do resemble Gian'ts Causeway.
what is the light source on the foreground rocks? sun or fill flash? but whatever it is, it works perfectly to emphasise the textures.
excellent work, my compliments.
with best regards,
Kristine

Salut Stephen..
Super composition.
Ces petites fleurs doivent être tenaces, car les conditions météorologiques de ce rocher ne doivent pas être des meilleurs..
De très belles couleurs éclairées par une superbe lumière.; Bravo

Haleluja!! I think that's the best word to describe this photograph.
What a feast for the eye! The yellow-green and pink in the foreground. What a punch! And then those clouds and how the light hits the side and roof of the lighthouse. Wow. And then the rock in the distance. What a depth created there. Double wow... Great!!
Greetings,
Dennis

Hi Steve,
Excellent series. I really like this foreground presentation for all the obvious reasons. The framing of the sea and the rocks leading us to the lighthouse are about perfect. Your second version is still my overall favourite though. The one aspect of this version that I find slightly distracting (in my typically nit-picky way) is the right side of the lighthouse. The severe forward camera tilt you needed to get this foreground resulted in a diverging of the verticals that my eye really notices. I tried a quick workshop to adjust that small section. See what you think.
An outstanding image. I hope to take a trip to Skye sometime this year and I'll certainly be studying your work in preparation.
Cheers!

Hi Stephen,
Same place as your previous one, but this one is even better ! I love the colours of this scenery, with the yellow, green and pink colours in the foreground. The depth of field is excellent and the light is really great. Very well done again.

Hi Stephen,
A very nice place that landscape, the lighthouse is very well positionned at the top of the rock. The light on the rock is superb, the sharpness everywhere on each plan is perfect. All the colors are fabulous. Really good moment and good place for photography.
Very well done!
Best regards,
Olivier
