As one of the most iconic images of Scotland, Eilean Donan is recognised all around the world. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most important attractions in the Scottish highlands.

Beautiful image, great pov and reflections. I stayed in a B&B directly opposite the castle in 2002 took a 36 roll of film which a clown in a 1hr developing shop in Edinburgh destroyed so I never got a shot!
This is a beauty.

This is a gorgeous photo, Stephen. The clarity and vividness of the colors is breath taking, the sharpness is striking, the framing is remarkable, and the POV is superb. But beyond the technical elements, this picture is utterly enchanting: from the semi-translucent waters of the loch to the illuminated castle perched on the island and the tinges of pink in the evening sky. This is a fine capture of a wonderful subject.

The sharpness is excellent throughout. (It's remarkable that the water is still enough for a 6-s exposure to produce such high fidelity reflections!)

I love your composition, with the repeated diagonal lines: the grass, the rocky outcrop (x2), and then the bridge leading out to the castle.

The lighting is deftly handled and the colors are wonderfully rendered.

Hello Stephen,
A wonderful view in darker colours under soft golden light. Well composed with the bridge leading the eye to the castle well profiled agaisnt the sky. The absolute stillness of the water adds to the impression that time is standing still.

The place is wonderful , for sure . And the picture is really superb . As a painting . Great mood , and , fo course , a perfect composition , with all the elements at the right place . The castle and the bridge are beautiful , but I like a lot the texture of the big rock in the fore ground .

Ye Gods what a wonderful photo!!!!!!!! I'm no expert on photography, but I can say that from an artistic point of view it's perfect----PERFECT, I say!! From the composition to the fantastic use of reflection to the transparency of the water in the foreground to the extraordinary light effect that you catured so ably to the vibrancy of the colors illuminated by that magic light to the dynamic sky to those perfect brushstrokes of blushing pink in the heavens!
