Photographer’s Note
This was taken from the Stornoway to Ullapool ferry, leaving Stornoway Harbour. Stornoway has built up around a wonderfully sheltered natural harbour that has been used from at least Viking times from which the name Stornoway is derived. It all seems tranquil in the photo, but in winter storms it can be a wild place. 2 years ago three boats dragged their moorings in this basis in 100 mph winds. The boat in the centre was badly damaged in the marina around the corner and has only been back on the water for the last 3 months after extensive repairs.
